New Normal

At work we've been in an understandable holding pattern. We were supposed to be allowed to return to the worksite on the 6th, however due to Governor Cooper's continuation of Phase 2 that did not happen. I believe he is to make about statements either by or on July 17th about the state of reopening schools and whether or not we are moving from Phase 2 and in what direction.

I'm also preparing for senior year at university. Looking forward to completing my program. I transferred in and depending on if some of my credits are accepted under my Interdisciplinary Studies concentration it could mean that I take either 4 classes for or 5 classes for Spring 2021. It's going to be an intense year anyways. The Fall semester starts on the August 5th, no fall break and it ends by Thanksgiving.

Aside from my job at the university, I was also selected to be a U.S. Census Enumerator. I was an enumerator back in 2010 so this will be interesting considering current events.

I did take the COVID-19 nasal test though I was not showing symptoms. The reason I did was twofold. First, between attending a local demonstration for Black Lives Matter/George Floyd and going to a baby shower for a family member I noticed some were not wearing masks or social distancing as best they could. Second, again we were supposed to return to the worksite on the 6th. So I wanted to be sure that I was alright not just for myself but for my coworkers.  I did receive my results and they were thankfully negative.

I understand that I'm very lucky but I still want to be cautious. As far as I'm concerned 2020 has really turned things from a matter of "if" to "when".
