Part 2 Of The Double Hockey Header Day: Long Beach Ice Dogs vs. Bakersfield Condors

Apr 11, 2007 13:00

[Pt. of the hockey fun day. 35 pix under the cuts.]

After the Kings game, we headed over to the Ice Dogs game. The night before, I made 2 more mixed cds for a couple of players: Mark Hurtubise & Stuart Kerr.

I want to thank everyone who helped out w/ the cd project. Much greatly appreciate it. wicked_kathy I do thank you so much for sending me a lot of songs. However, I didn't get most of them until now mainly because I didn't see it after the cds were made not to mention I couldn't check my other e-mails that much due to my internet being down. I didn't even realize that you'd send me more than one song. Once again thank you. If by any reason I left you out (especially from the D boards), my sincerest apologies. I haven't been able to go to D, and if anyone else left me any songs there, once again my sincerest apologies.

Anyways, traffic was bad all thanx to the Grand Prix, so we ended up parking at the pier area where they have all the nice eateries. We had dinner at Boston Pizza where the food and drinks were excellent, but we had a crappy waitress since she took forever to give us our 2nd drinks thus we ended up running late for the game.

We had to walk all the way to the arena, and we missed parts of the 1st period. However, the Ice Dogs were by then tied 2-2. 1st intermission, we met up w/ mademoisellenat and Laura, and most of the time I kept eyeing on the jerseys that were being auctioned off. The starting bid was a bit more than I was hoping to pay. My first bid was on Gabriel Proulx's jersey off his back after the game.

2nd period, twas a fun period as the Ice Dogs took a nice lead, and Gabriel Proulx got into a fight. He ended up leaving, and he never came back. :(

2nd intermission, we went back to the bidding table. I was outbidded on Gabe's jersey, but I bidded again to only be outbidded, and by then the price was too much for me. Then I tried my luck w/ Mark Hurtubise's jersey, but I got outbidded. Since hardly anyone bidded for Brad Bonello's jersey, I placed my bid, and nobody else bidded on it. Thus, I ended up winning Brad's jersey. Ever since I went to a Kings game where you can win a jerseys off the players' backs 9 years ago, I've always wanted to win a jersey, but I had no luck. Although it was by an auction instead of being chosen at random like the Kings, I finally won a jersey off a players' back after waiting 9 years. One family won 3 jerseys worth $700. I've seen pix of them from the Ice Dogs site winning different types of hockey jerseys off the players' backs. So that's not the only 1st set of jerseys they have won. A girl bidded and paid $600 for a Mark Tobin jersey.

3rd period, I missed a chunk of the period since I was in line to pay for my jersey, but they did pull off a nice lead, the first time since last year since that has happend. In the end, the Ice Dogs won 7-5.

After the game, we had to wait forever before I was to get to the ice to recieve my jersey. They had to take a team photo which took friggin forever. Then finally they had the jersey ceremony where everyone got their jerseys. It was so awesome being on the ice, having Brad strip his jersey off and everything. I had him personalize my jersey, although he admitted that he didn't know how to spell "Princess". Soon after, I met up w/ Eric and I asked him if he liked the cd. He really liked it a lot and he thanked me for it. After getting our pix and everything, I gave him a big hug and I came [ ] close to giving him a kiss on the cheeks (long story-which I won't get into more details on why I had the urge to do it), but I really couldn't bring myself to doing it which was a good thing.

Despite the fact that it was getting late and the players were taking forever to get out, I was able to give Mark his cd first. He was all, "that's awesome" with excitement, especially after looking at the cd cover. Since it was really getting late and I still needed to give Stuart his cd, we saw Andrew Winnik come out, and I had to give his cd to him since we had to leave. Then as we were on our way to the parking lot, Nommie decided to come back and have Stuart sign our group pix from the banquet. Long and behold, he had just got out. So as he was signing the pic, I asked him if Andrew gave him his cd, and he told me yes and thanked me for it. After meeting him, we went to our parking and stuff. mademoisellenat was really nice enough to drive us to where we had parked since it was far. We saw a few Ice Dogs leaving and were in front of us, all stuffed in a big truck. As soon as we got to our parking, we saw Brian White, Bo Cheeseman & Jeff Mason on the corner. As we were driving out, we waved hello to them and wished them luck while at a stoplight.

In all, it was a tiring yet a funfilled night.

Baby Pou's pants kept falling down. He decided to moon the ice. What a silly bear.

And I am spent! Now I need to get ready for class.

Since yesterday, my internet has been back and working like normal. I've been slowly trying to catch up on everything. The next few days or so before I leave for vacation, I'll be reading and commenting w/o having to skim around.

mademoisellenat: I dunno if I had a chance to call you, but I did get your voice message. I need to call you again so that I can get my pix back. Thank you so much for finding them and taking care of them. ^^

Till then, have a wonderful day! Take care and GO PENS!!! GO FLAMES!!!
