The Blue Jackets Story

*Whores Up Her Journal*

I should be doing my homework now, but right now I'm dreading it. Anyways, here's a lil story that happend in class yesterday.

Well, for my Art 56 (Computer Assisted Drawing) class, we're gonna make greeting cards. Ms. Paley assigned 3-4 people per group, and the group has to make up a fake card company and come up w/ a background and everything on that fake company.

In our group, we had to brainstorm and come up with names no matter how silly it sounded for the fake company. It cannot be a name that already exist nor anything offensive (it has to be portfolio worthy). Out of nowhere, Duchess, one of the ladies in our group came up with the name "Blue Jackets" thinking that name hasn't already existed.

I did end up telling her, since more than likely (not to be judgemental or anything) she's not familiar with hockey let alone the NHL & the Blue Jackets, that there was a NHL team that was already named (Columbus) Blue Jackets. I also explained to her that they were one of the new NHL teams that came to the NHL about 6-7 years ago.

Just now, I was talking to her about our class assignment and other stuff (Ms. Paley wanted us to call members of our group and discuss the assignment). When I mentioned to her on how I go to downtown L.A. or Long Beach to watch hockey games, she asked me if it was the Blue Jackets. I told her no and how they were in Columbus, but I did tell her that they do play against the Kings and how I got to see them last month.

I thought I'd share. The whole Blue Jackets part came out randomly from a non-hockey fan, but I'm glad that I got to tell her more about the Blue Jackets and hockey, and she's slowly catching on. In all, that made my night. ^^

In other hockey news...

Whilst round 2 of the QMJHL playoffs had already started a while back whilst the ECHL playoffs started a few days ago, the NHL playoffs just started today. I'm sad that the Pens lost, but at least the Canucks and Stars are in OT. Now here's who I'll be rooting for in Round 1...

East

Sabres vs. Islanders: While I hate the Sabres & still holding a grudge over the Isles, I'm pulling for the Islanders. This should be an interesting match up considering Ted Nolan is facing his former team in this series. I'd like to see the Isles go far since Ted Nolan is an awesome coach, but I need to shut up before I jinx them.

Devil vs. Lightning: GO DEVILS!!! >:D The Devils are still one of my faves although I haven't been into them as much as I used to.

Thrashers vs. Rangers: This is a tough one. The Rangers have grown into me plus there are some players there that I like. At the same time, I'd like to see the Thrashers go far. All I can say for now is, may the best (and sexiest) team win and move on to Round 2.

Sen vs. Pens: Although the Sens are likeable, it's Pens all the way hands down!!! I have to root and adopt my 2nd favorite NHL team. Anyways, GO PENS GO!!!! PENS ALL THE WAY!!!!! (Sorry Ice & Sens Fans. I still luv the Sens though as well as you all.)

West

Detroit vs. Calgary: I HATE The Red Wings!!! Therefore, GO FLAMES GO!!!! They'll be my adopted team in the west. They moved up to being my 3rd favorite NHL team ever since Craig Conroy got traded there. Once again... GO FLAMES!!!

Anaheim vs. Minnesota: Wild Hands Down!!! I HATE THE DUCKS!!! *rage* However, don't be surprised if I find myself watching a Ducks playoff game (regardless of if they move on to the next round or not). I may be so hockey deprived (since the Kings and Ice Dogs are done) that I'll be at a Ducks playoffs game. Anyways, GO WILD!!!

Vancouver vs. Dallas: GO CANUCKS ALL THE WAY!!! However, part of me wants to root for the Stars for the sake of Matty Norstrom & Philippe Boucher.

San Jose vs. Nashville: This will be tough since I do not like either one of these teams. It's almost like shit vs. puke, but not as much. Sharks b/c I HATE THEM TOO!!! Pred b/c I don't think I could tolerate any Granulov-ness, especially when pulls off his cocky-ass goal scoring celebration like he did w/ the Remparts last season, especially if the Pred keep moving further up. In the long run, the Preds are more tolerable. I'd love to stay longer when I go to NorCal this weekend just to catch a playoff game outside of Staples Center or The Pond (Honda Center). I guess... Go Preds!

Now, I need to get back to work. Till then, have a wonderful night. :)
