Also, I've only watched a handful or so of HIMYM episodes, but I agree with you re. Barney. Only, I always kinda got the impression that was the point? Therefore it doesn't bug me?
It could be because I just watch this show for the LOLs and am not at all invested in it/the characters...
Maybe?
Anyway, HI!
(And mmmmm, pie! Ngl, it was the pie comment that inspired me to reply to this post!)
Fair enough. I don't watch it regularly enough for the Barney is a constant ass thing to really be all that jarring probably... Once a month of Barney being an ass is actually really entertaining! I wouldn't have it any other way!
IF WE DON'T MEET THE MOTHER SOON I AM GOING TO RIOT.
No really, I think that's the biggest problem with the show at this point. If only because mathematically, he has to meet her soon or those kids can't exist, because they will have already been born and Ted will still be working on meeting her. So yes. That should happen.
I don't love Barney as much as fandom as a whole does, but I think maybe that's what happens when you watch the show straight through and the Barney-ness isn't spread out? It's just a theory, though. And I loved, loved Ted/Robin and would still take them back, so. That gets in the way of things.
Well, I know that we have two more seasons guaranteed on top of the current season, so I am betting on a 2013 series finale? It has to be right? The very latest I can give those kids to start being born is 2015.
So you're saying...Barney is more tolerable, if I'd had small Barney doses over the past few years, rather than a marathon in two weeks? (God, it's scary how fast I whipped through five seasons.)
Maybe? I mainlined four seasons and just started watching live with season five, and Barney is far from my favorite and I've wondered if that's before.
Josh Radnor is pretty fucking amazing, even when he has terrible hair, it's true. Though no one matches Segel for bad hair on this show. No one.
I am obsessed with this show. I can literally quote almost every episode, and my roommate from college and I are totally Ted and Marshall.
I'm very hit-or-miss with Barney. Sometimes I love him and other times I wonder why they're friends with him.
Lily and Marshall <3
My hope for the mother is they show her in a season finale and have the following season be how Ted and she actually fall in love. However, I doubt that will happen.
Actually, oddly me and my friends from college are still bizarrely close. There's 9 of us going strong- that's rare for a girl group.
I like your scenario best for meeting the mother. Because if it's a number of several women, dropping various clues and red flags...I'm afraid the last season will turn into a wild shipper war.
Actually, oddly me and my friends from college are still bizarrely close. Me and mine, too... Actually, some of us have been good friends since primary school (grade school?). We even made it through four years of a girls-only high school and still came out the other end as friends! Haha!
LOVE The Slap Bet totally, one of my favorite episodes. I just watched 6x01, and I'm sad, because I know we probably have until the last season to see the next slap, and I will be on pins and needles until then. And I have to say, at least in that first episode, it totally looks like JS and NPH are just going house on each other, no 'stage slaps' to be had.
I am confident that there will be *some* payoff...how much I can't say, but to have *none* would be terrible.
For some reason I was stupid and didn't record season 6 this year, even though I knew I'd be getting season 5. Maybe next year I'll be smart and record season 7 so I don't have to wait around until September to see the next season on DVD
( ... )
And I feel like that would be a horrible trick to play on a loyal audience of nine years (by the time the show wraps). It would be a head-spinning twist, but I feel like it's irresponsible story-telling. We're in this to win it, we want the happy ending.
