For some reason I was stupid and didn't record season 6 this year, even though I knew I'd be getting season 5. Maybe next year I'll be smart and record season 7 so I don't have to wait around until September to see the next season on DVD.
I was perusing TWOP the other day and reading the threads for some old episodes, and I saw someone mention a theory that I feel like would be one crazy ass twist, and really depressing but awesome in a way, but I know that HIMYM would never go there. Someone mentioned though, that they had been wondering since the beginning of the series if the mom is dead, because Ted has her so idolized in the stories. Like, he seriously hasn't said a single flaw about her. If HIMYM weren't a comedy, I'd actually be a little worried that that could possibly happen, but I know they'll never go there. I thought the idea was a really good one though, and actually made some sense.
Gah, once I wrap up my latest session of making the rounds through the first 6 seasons of The Office I will totally start HIMYM again. I probably won't get to until after Europe. It will be a good reintroduction to America.
And I feel like that would be a horrible trick to play on a loyal audience of nine years (by the time the show wraps). It would be a head-spinning twist, but I feel like it's irresponsible story-telling. We're in this to win it, we want the happy ending.
I'd probably bawl my eyes out. I really don't think they'll go there, the theory just intrigued me, cause I'm crazy like that. I think they'll give us the happy ending. I always keep wondering if the woman he ran into in the club on St. Patrick's Day was the mom. A lot of people think it's a red herring, but that she's somehow connected to the mom because the moment was just so random. Gah! I seriously want to meet the mom now. I'd like it if they could do that next season or maybe the season 8 finale, and season 9 can be about the relationship building.
I thought about that? (The St. Patrick's Day girl.) But I don't think so. Because I think they are going to have to be super careful with their casting for The Mother, and with her chemistry with JR, and it can't just be an extra throwaway, because even if they do have the better part of a season to build a relationship, it is still going to be a relatively short time for the audience to connect with her. And then, if they bomb The Mother, after all that, well....
