weird gift karma

This whole weird thing that I keep having with gifts for my grandmother has GOT to stop.

One time, a woman stopped me on the street. It was nighttime, and I was a little uncomfortable, but I was with a friend, and she was sitting on the steps of a church, so I gave it a shot. She was selling a pretty little angel bell because she desperately needed the money. I talked her down from $10 to $7, since that was all I had on me, and I took it home and gave it to my grandmother for ... oh, her birthday, or Christmas, or just because. I can't remember. But anyway, when my grandmother examined it in the light, she found her birth month inscribed on the side of the bell. I never knew it was there.

I just got part of her Christmas present in the mail today, from an eBay seller. I bought her a pretty lace tablecloth with matching napkins; I'm going to make her a brocade runner to go with the tablecloth. I opened the package to inspect it, and apparently the tablecloth was new in the package, complete with tags and descriptions and everything. The design pattern? (A derivative of) her name. This was NOT advertised.

It's not like her name is all that common. I mean, her name isn't Zarathustra or anything, but it's not Jane Doe, either.

How does this keep happening? Bob Ross would call it a happy accident, some might call it a coincidence. Maybe I'm just REALLY good at getting gifts, but only for HER.

Anyway, it's weird.
