cookies for you

My friends loveisrationed and alt just left an hour ago. Alt and I baked cookies while loveis... well, he just ate them. Here are some that escaped whole, to be caught on camera:

As you can see, it's chocolate chip and double chocolate chip. I wish I could say bunnisteffi ate all the sugar vanilla ones, but sorry sweetie, we didn't end up baking them after all since we already made so many. The dough for that batch is still in the freezer :D Maybe next time....

It was great to hang out with alt. I met her four years ago through my other fandom, when she was fourteen and I was... hmm, twenty-seven. Alt was such a serious, precocious child back then, always wear black and so quiet and observant. Even during big hang-outs or parties she was always writing in a notebook, taking notes of what was going on, like an anthropologist studying the behavior of wild animals (in this instances, the hobbits of the wild.) Back then Alt basically looked like a live version of Emily the Strange.

When we first meet we took to each other immediately; I felt she was the baby sister I never had and she treated me like the older sister I was/am. I never coddled her though; I am proud to say I always treated her like an adult and how that she actually IS one I'm so happy :) She's grown into a considerable force of nature. She's a sophomore now, studying outside of Manila so I only see her when during sem breaks. She just decided to become a conservationist, which is really fantastic because I did a lot of environmental work too, as part of my volunteer social work.

Jeez, I sound like an enthusiastic old mum. Never mind. Some friends are keepers! She was amused I had seemingly regressed and gotten into something 'childish' like anime again (she must have been in elementary when I first watched Neon Genesis Evangelion) and she totally didn't get loveisrationed swooning over IchiRuki AMVs. XD

Still, we bonded over dinner, too many cookies, and live clips of Potter Puppet Pals. It was light-hearted, intimate, and just what I needed.

Don't ask me how my first day of National Novel Writing Month went. My word count, as far as I'm concerned, is ZERO. Heh. I hate writing deadlines. It dries up all my thoughts...

I've been listening to this song a lot lately. It's the perfect theme song for every other character in Neon Genesis Evangelion. I was looking for an official video to embed here but there's none, not even a music clip of it on the artists' myspace page, so I have to content myself with just the lyrics here.

A Sniveling Mess by Steve Burns
Yeah, the guy who quit Blue's Clues is a very decent songwriter. Once upon a time -- like two years ago -- I watched a lot of Blue's Clues while babysitting my baby nephew. Steve Burns is one sexy geek. But I digress...

I woke up,
Tried to get dressed
But I was alarmed, I was distressed
Though I always, always try to do my best
I had become a sniveling mess

Will you love me if I'm a mess?
Hold on I want to make sure you comprehend
Hold on I need you to be comfortable
Did you understand what I am
With that resolved I guess I'll go
Pack my bags, move to Borneo
When I get there, I'll live in a tree
I'm telling all y'all that's where I'll be
If you need me

Will you love me if I'm a mess?
Hold on I want to make sure you comprehend
Hold on I need you to be comfortable
Do you understand what I am
Will you love me if I'm a mess?

snicker probably not.
