Yeah, I make all my cookies from scratch. :D I did take a nine-month course in culinary school, aside from an additional course in cake decorating in the US. I have lots of weird skills I don't really maximize *sheepish grin* I can give you my recipe for sugar vanilla cookies, but it's not perfect yet. I can email it you later :D

It was the green kind, and smaller than the usual. It was as good as eating Thai lime (my favourite kinda lime), since it left my tongue all tangy after I finsihed the last piece. =)
oh!!! Food! And I'm supposed to be on my way out to the gym too... argh. Will look at the links later when I get back. My trainer's going to kill me if I'm late again! *giggle*
Oh, those sweets look so good :Dlaurie_bunterNovember 2 2007, 10:31:39 UTC
Oh! You just made me wish I didn't have another party to go to tonight -- after looking at those pics, now I really run away and eat at a Southeast Asian restaurant somewhere -- maybe Banana Leaf. (I assume there's Banana Leaf in Singapore -- it's supposed to be from your country, unless I'm mistaken :D Anyway, I like that restaurant chain!)
There's a lot of variety of sticky cakes over here, the general word for it is "kakanin." (Kanin = rice.) I'm not sure about Kueh. I took a few units in Bahasa Malaysia ages ago, but it doesn't ring a bell.
The peach-shaped Bao looks so delicious *food envy* They didn't teach those dishes in cooking school, sniff sniff. They taught mostly European cuisine.
Yup, there's one.bunnisteffiNovember 2 2007, 14:44:46 UTC
I asked, and yes, there's a Banana Leaf over here, in Little India. Was told that they serve curry dishes. Me like curry. 'Specially the not-so-spicy ones. And fish head curry.
You made me want to eat Filipino food tonight, but I had fried vermicilli (or bee hoon) at my aunt's place in the end. Was nice, still. There aren't only peach-shaped bao, but also rabbit-shaped ones! I saw them a while ago, and was so excited over them. Hahas. You could go pick up a SEA dessert cookbook. I'm sure there're plenty of them around. =)
I had been learning Bahasa Malaysia last year, on-and-off and I hadn't really paid attention in class, so I understand not much. I'm pretty sure 'kueh' isn't a Malay word now. Maybe it's Peranakan or Nonya or...something.
