It seems I've mismanaged my broadband for the 2nd month running. I have 50GB of broadband a month before I get "shaped" which is going down to dial-up speeds. Had a lot of downloads this month, including snapshots from a webcomic project, and I ave 2.65GB left for the next five days. Got home yesterday and there was no net connection.

This was not unexpected, as Monday was supposedly the date that Australis would cut connection if they were no longer paid (they weren't) and the date when Bigpond was supposed to replace them. After a bit of consideration, I'm changing my ISP to Bigpond on a $59.95 / 50GB monthly plan. Kevin will be paying 1/2 of this monthly cost. Obverall it compares favourably to my current plan, which is $59.95 a month (K pays about $10) which gets us 30GB + 10GB off peak. According to Kevin, the Broadband speed will be about 4 times as fast as ( Read more... )

As a comparison, check out both Circle of Ancient Iranian Studies and Mithraism - both on the same subject - which seem well presented and written.

I've been mostly trying to avoid the Presidential Election in the USA but that's difficult to do. One thing I've been listening to is a segment on TripleJ radio called RACE RACE. It's a satirical poke at the whole thing by Chris Taylor and Craig Reucassel, who are part of The Chaser. They have an archive of episodes that you can listen to as well.

I just discovered that Songbird can use the multimedia keys on my Genius keyboard. Nice - I've been using this and SysTrayPlay to play local music files and Internet radio (I love dark ambient stuff). Less mouse clicks to figure out.
