Enough with the fancy-schmancy layouts! This week's Who Wore It Better is all about classical simplicity, as our contestants channel the spirit of the ancients:
To the left, Lois contemplates her update to the Egyptian kalasiris, which features a short bubble skirt, and a rope belt. to the right, Klinger runs to light the 4077th's Olympic fire in a variation on the Greek peplos, also complimented by a rope belt as well as a crown of laurel leaves.
Both bodices emphasize gathered fabric*, although to slightly different ends, and both accent the clean color and line of their costumes with gold jewelry.

I used the word simple earlier, but to a non-seamstress like myself this looks incredibly complicated. I'm especially interested in the side panels: are they made of a pre-crimped fabric, or has the fabric in them been gathered on either side to create that texture?
