SARAH'S QUARTERS
12/25
In the morning, very early, Sarah puttered around with coffee, her hair sleep-mussed as she sat at the eying the small tree, which had four gifts under it. The two stockings over the fake fireplace were full to brimming and she was simply staring at it all, clutching her coffee like a life preserver as she debated a shower. But there were two boxes on the mantle, weren't there? And she was more than a little curious.
12/29
Scrambled eggs, toast, orange juice, and a mug of coffee - with a debate on pancakes. Sarah actually felt like cooking and the Admiral had re-stocked her fridge with all sorts of goodwill goodies. Technically speaking, she could even make fruit pancakes. And another pot of coffee.
1/1
Sarah always seemed to wake with a start, from naps, to her usual four hours of sleep, and it was always unpleasant. But this was a new year, filled with different sorts of possibilities on the Barge. It didn't help the waking, but she stayed where she was, her knees tucked to her chest, not moving as she concentrated on moving past the panic of the nightmare. It was the same one that had bled into another one, walking through the ruins of humanity and finding people she'd come to care for - or respect - on the Barge. Jesse, Riddick, Stildyne, Arkady, too, probably because the woman had helped her with the tree.
Arthas.
All of them terminated. Gone. All of them.
When she woke, she stayed still, her fists clenched around the blankets.
THE TREE
12/25-1/1
There are a ton of gifts that say 'from Sarah Connor' on them, dolled out in varying degrees of usefulness and awesome to each and every Barge resident (and the T-X unit will get a man-shaped package in which it will find a life size cardboard cutout of Ahnold as a Terminator attempting to smile). Sarah finally wandered away from her usual haunts to see if there was anything there for her, something she'd done periodically for the last few days. Sometimes she found a package or two, sometimes there was nothing. Sometimes there was mistletoe.
THE GYM
11/30
Early morning bag practice was coupled with a good, long workout with her foil and a practice dagger. She took her time, letting the routine soothe her until she was loosened up and some of the tightness that had pinched and worried at her throughout the week was gone.
ON THE DECK
12/31
Two minutes until midnight, counting down the new year's start on her holo watch. It's too cold to really be out there in a winter vest and fingerless gloves, but she's staring up through the flakes of snow and wondering about John, not for the first time since his departure. And she's also thinking about her John, trekking through the South American jungle (or frozen in time).
