She's on the floor in front of the newly returned television, fiddling with the DVD player. There's just a black screen, despite how many times she pushes the buttons. She has never really gotten the hang of the DVD player.

Patrick was roaming the Barge - it was better than sitting around reading or wondering how long it was going to take before he was assigned again - and spotted Jane struggling with the DVD player.
Well, he might not be a mechanic or an engineer, but he'd certainly handled misbehaving DVD players before, so he headed over to see if there what was up. "Need a hand?"

She turned, looking up to him, and sighed. "I don't know. Are you able to do this?" She poked at the DVD player again and it spat out the disc. Another sigh.

"Most of the time, sure," he said, shrugging slightly before dropping down next to Jane. He removed the disk, studied it, shrugged again and fed it back into the player. The tray slid shut, stopped for a moment, and then opened again. "Huh."

These next couple days of freedom are going to make or break her. Lua knows her floor by now, but she wants to learn this boat inside and out before she's got someone watching her every move, and she can't just hide below decks forever.
She's never seen anything like all the color and scent trapped in this room. She's going to let the girl work in peace while she stares through the doorway and takes everything in: no matter where she steps on this boat, it could be a false step.
Nope! That's just great!thebestnoseAugust 15 2011, 10:54:24 UTC
Jane turned around quickly, expecting to see Eddie. Hardly anyone came to this place. The sheer amount of saturation in the flowers gave most people a headache if they stared too long.
The unfamiliar face brought a frown to her and she pushed a strand of hair from her face.
ugh this took forever :cdoveheartedAugust 15 2011, 22:05:33 UTC
She was already blinking at so much color. So much green more than anything, brighter in a real way than any green light she'd seen, and the sharp wetness of the flowers' smell... it was almost enough to make her back out on its own. And the garden's owner wasn't exactly welcoming her in. Letting go of the doorframe, she shook her head. "I don't need anything."
But she stayed a moment longer. "I can't believe I'm seeing this."

Though she can't see the colours, she does like to look at the pictures. Today, however, she decided to draw. Though, because the colored pencils don't have labels on them, her tree has red branches.

It's very hard to sneak up on Jane, but he managed to. Probably because she was squinting really hard, as if that would make the colours on the pencils appear. It didn't and she jumped at his words instead.
"It's not an elephant." She frowned at him and held it up. "It's a tree." With red branches. And blue leaves.

"That's a very good elephant."
George is not good at the art.

"Oh. Yes, I see. Quite creative. I didn't know you drew."
