~*~

Gretel awoke with an soft cry, the nightmare of the night they lost their parents was still fresh in her mind as she glanced around the room that her and her brother were staying in. It was a small room with only one bed and a small window but it was the best that the mayor of the village had to offer and they have worked with worst.

She ran a hand through her hair and knew that she wasn't going to get back to sleep so she pushed back her blanket and carefully got out of bed; so not to step on Hansel asleep on the ground.

She smiled at her brother as he stirred but didn't wake, as if he knew she was awake though he slept. Not bothering for a robe or blanket to wrap around her, Gretel moved to the window. There she glanced out into the night sky, it was late, about midnight, the time of night that most stories gave to the witches. Now though, knowing that she, herself, was a white witch would explained why she always seemed to like this time so much.

She would never dream of actually, willingly, going out into a forest or out hunting at night but she have always found herself waking some nights to just look out into the night sky. Maybe it had something to do with the silence and the peacefulness that she felt as she looked up at the stars.

'The Witching Hour' was what villagers called it but it seemed that it wasn't just for dark witches.
