Dream of Californication

Jun 15, 2007 18:15

Kacie had left at like 2 that afternoon with her doctor-boyfriend who was takin' her to Las Vegas for the weekend, leavin' her Santa Monica beach house all to me. She tried real heard to pretend like she was givin' me the speech, the one about not having any parties while she was gone, no drinking, and definitely no boys. But I could tell, Kacie ( Read more... )

"Are you kidding me?" I asked, as I rolled over on the bed onto my stomach and looked up from the latest issue of Cosmo that I'd been reading. "You couldn't look fat if like, you ate ten gallons of ice cream and then didn't hit the gym for a month." I shook my head at her. Was she crazy? "You look great, now can we just get dressed and get downstairs? People are gonna be here soon and that booze isn't gonna drink itself ( ... )

"Thanks, darlin'." I said, smiling as if it were for the cameras Kacie was always practicin' for, all wide and genuine. Except hers was less genuine and more, 'I'll fuck you for the right part' Everyone knew it but her mama. "You look pretty hot yourself." I said, admiring her reflection in the mirror for a minute.

I pulled the hand beaded, sequined bebe strapless top from the hanger, slipping it over my head and wrangling it down over my shoulders where it settled just nicely at the top of my bra. A sparkly belt, and some spiked Louboutins and I was totally ready to "pre-game it" as Lexi said.

"What should we kick it off with?" I asked, having taken the spiral staircase steps two at a time. "Mama's a total lush, so I know how to make one Hell of a Cosmopolitan." I said, whippin' out a couple of martini glasses and the necessaries.

I followed after her as we made our way down the staircase. Lacey was in front of me and I stopped to admire her for a second. It wasn't like she did a lot for me personally, I mean she was hot but totally not my type. I'd already proven what my type was and it just happened to be the vampire type who liked to beat up my Dad. It was hard not to think about Sophia sometimes. But anyways, I wasn't looking at Lacey the way I looked at Sophia, I was watching the way she moved. Something about it just seemed familiar to me ( ... )

Since when was a Cosmo not a real drink? Mama and all her starter wife/first wive's club friends drank them all the time. Them and big buckets full of icy margaritas ( ... )

I just watched for a second as Lacey told me she could take it straight and tipped the glass back. I thought she was actually gonna make it for a second but then she totally choked. I couldn't help but let another giggle escape from my lips as she finally stopped coughing and choking ( ... )

I was still wiping away sticky remnants of tequila off my skin when Lexi promised me it'd get easier from there on out.

"It better." I said, with a small grin. "'Cause I'm not exactly sure my throat's fit to handle another lava flow." Wiping the corners of my mouth with the tip of my middle finger, I watched as she expertly threw back her entire shot like it was nothing; like it was water. It really never stopped impressing me how she could do that. Like she'd been drinking a lot longer than she'd been alive,

"It's not all Kacie's." I said, though I wasn't exactly defending her. "She's always got some quote casting director unquote coming over with a bottle of booze and a box of Trojans so she can read for a part." I explained, givin' a little roll of my eyes. "She never gets a call back. And a couple days later, it's the same thing, all over again. The expensive stuff is what they bring, all part of their game. The cheap stuff's hers, what she buys at the grocery store to drink away the rejection ( ... )

I raised an eyebrow as Lacey turned my wrist over and salted it for me. At least I thought it was for me until she popped a slice of lime into my mouth. With one eyebrow still arched I watched her curiously as she took a body shot off of me like she did it every other weekend or something for fun. Hmmm. Maybe I underestimated Lacey ( ... )

"Much better." I conceded with a smile. "Though, I still prefer my tequila mixed up with some ice and something a little sweet." I said, givin' her a wink, just as she announced that it was her turn and proceeded to start turning my wrist over. Well. Fair's fair, right?

She gave me this look, and I wasn't sure how to read it. Had I gone too far? I mean, I just though this was how things were done. Which I imagined they were, once she popped the lime in my mouth and began to lick the salt from me.

But then she kissed me - full on kissed my mouth all hard and purposeful and not just for the sake of gettin' the lime. I didn't kmow what to do, my eyes just widened a bit as I held her arms with my hands 'till she pulled away.

"Me too..." I managed to murmur, still confused though we were saved by the bell. "Better go see who that is!" I recovered quickly, flashing her a bright smile as I headed for the door.

I couldn't tell if I'd scared her off or not, but she totally started it so I just shrugged and followed her to the door. I had no idea who it would be, I just hoped it wasn't Tyler because he was sure to kill my party buzz pretty quickly. I guess I'd just have to get him drunk tonight. After all, when was the last time my big brother had any real fun? Probably never.

"Let's see who it is." I grinned at her as she opened up the door and I swear jaw might have dropped when she saw how many people were behind it.

"Is there where the party is?" One of the guys from school asked me, he had a stereo with him and long hair with a stupid hat on. But he had lots of friends behind him, plus he brought music.

"Sure is." I grinned, elbowing Lacey hard in the ribs as she opened her mouth. Be cool, I couldn't help but think her direction. I wasn't sure if she would be or not but once she loosened up she would have a lot of fun.

Stepping out of the way I watched as the people streamed past us, making their way into the house.

Is this where the party is? Uh, yeah. It's where the party is if I'd invited you. Which, no, guy with long, grungy, Kurt Cobain-style hair and ugly-ass trucker hat from five seasons ago, you're not.

I started to look at Lexi, figurin' she'd put him in his place real quick, but much to my surprise she smiled at him and let him in. Him and at least 25 of his closest friends. Before I could even say anything, I caught an elbow to the rib and I suspect it was supposed to be hard. Alexia Osborn was known for hittin' hard. Somehow, it never really hurt me all that much though.

"Ow." I feigned, once everyone was inside and out of earshot. "Lexi!" I said, frowning slightly, just as her brother and some cute friend of his headed up the sidewalk. Okay. So maybe I could be made a little bit later, which is why I instantly turned it all around and started smiling again.
