I hit you really hard in the head
Hi, everyone! Demon cough has been (mostly) vanquished and I'm back to collecting interesting bruises while playing sand vball, so all is well on this end. =) Heading to the phone store tonight to (hopefully probably) upgrade to an iPhone. \o/
1) Multifandom polyamory ficathon! Citius Altius Fortius: a multi-fandom olympics au ficathon! Signups for the new avengersfest will begin soon, and there is a new comm, natasha_loki. And the Clint/Natasha promptathon now has a master post. :)
2) I want this Wild West AU with Clint and Natasha to exist SO MUCH. Or any steampunk Avengers AU, really. Or maybe just more cowboy JEREMY RENNER. I am not picky. ♥
3) My old manager got me a free ticket to watch the Thurs midnight showing of TDKR and oh boy oh boy. Ok so here are my non spoilery thoughts: it was a pretty good movie overall. It's not a *great* movie, not in the way TDK was (IMO), but I enjoyed it a lot anyway. JGL is superb and I loved every single second of Anne Hathaway. THard's Bane voice was a bit hard to understand and the sound mixing could've been better. I also had a few issues with the movie, mostly of the storytelling variety, but reading starlingthefool's reaction post and weatherfront's tumblr post have given me more to think about. I personally think TDKR works best as part of the Nolan trilogy, so I'd like to rewatch the first two movies before I watch TDKR again (which probably won't be for awhile). Avengers is still the best movie I've watched this summer.
4) In other movie news: The Hobbit will now be three films. Exciting!! And less than two weeks till BOURNE. Can't wait!!! ♥
5) I don't watch Teen Wolf (I just don't have time to get into another fandom/show *sadface*), but cobweb_diamond's excellent Teen Wolf Primer is wonderful and hilarious. :)

a) Drawing for dragons by the_ragnarok (Inception, Arthur/Eames) - In which Eames is the prettiest princess, Arthur charges into battle woefully underdressed, and the dragons have it all figured out. Two of my favorite things (Inception and the Enchanted Forest Chronicles) masterfully fused into one thoroughly delightful story!
b) When a man loves a PASIV by eleveninches (Inception, Arthur/Eames) - "Everyone knows Eames was trying to accomplish inception for years. Are you expecting me to believe you tried it once and pulled it off?" Wonderful. This is brilliant Coob in all of his rationally crazy glory, and the push and pull of Arthur and Eames, and bright, take no BS Ariadne.
c) it's like one of us woke up by kaydeefalls (XMFC, Charles/Erik) - "You came here for me," Charles said, meeting Shaw's gaze levelly. "So let's not waste any more time." Canon!AU in which Charles and Erik do find Shaw in Russia. Awesome, and with gorgeous art!
d) Protégé by kristen999 (H50, gen) - Octane fuels Kono’s blood, the same untamed rocket fuel in McGarrett's. That's why Kono asked her boss if he’d train her as a sniper. (Set early Season One) Gorgeous gen!fic; the author did a ton of research and it absolutely shows. This is the H50 universe I love, with a kickass Kono. :D
e) all you need to make a movie is a gun and a girl by postcardmystery (James Bond reboot, Moneypenny/Q) - There’s a story here, but this much, you should already know: that there are two men sitting in Room 13 of the National Portrait Gallery. One of them is the most dangerous man in Europe. The other one’s James Bond. Postcard's writing always ALWAYS leaves me breathless and this is just...gah, I just need Postcard to write ALL THE THINGS, ALL THE TIME, OK?
f) turn your sail (never say we die) by fahye (Pirates of the Caribbean, Elizabeth/Will) - totally transparent attempt to tie every single ambiguous loose end into a pretty bow. I'm kind of a closet sucker for Pirates fic, and although I've never found Will particularly interesting, the Pirate King and the Captain of the Flying Dutchman? Oh yeah, I can get behind that. ;) I would honestly love more fic about Elizabeth adventuring as Captain Turner the Pirate King. If that fic exists, please kindly direct me to it. <3
g) you are a paradigm by 1electricpirate (Sherlock, John/Sherlock) - Sometimes, only sometimes, when Sherlock is very far away and absolutely guaranteed not to return for at least three hours, John sits on the sofa and lets the tea make itself. In which John is (reluctantly) a wizard, Mycroft is (apparently) omniscient, and Sherlock is (surprisingly) oblivious. Fantastically seamless fusion of Sherlock and HP.
h) intro (the Avengers) by angelwings4191 (Avengers fanvid, gen) - Love the music and the editing!
i) Black Widow fanmade trailer by namiyouffie64 (Avengers fanvid, gen, Clint/Natashaish) - This is GORGEOUS and the shots are all perfectly chosen. I love the music, it just fits the mood so well.
j) It will probably accelerate by northatlantic (Avengers, Steve/Tony) - So the working title of this was variously 'mixtape,' 'how steve rogers got his groove back' and 'oh my god quit thinking of things to add.' Steve's perspective of the assembly of the Avengers after the dust has settled and the rebuilding begins. This is *wonderful.* This is a Steve who is brilliant and strong and still struggling to find his way. The writing is smart and sharp and insightful. Highly recommended!
k) Boys wanna be her by paperclipbitch (Avengers, Clint/Natasha, NC17) - Bodyswap! (Clint makes a mental note never to tell Nat that he realised he was inside her body by recognising her boobs.) Sexy and funny and just all around great.
l) Your fixed point by quigonejinn (Iron Man + Avengers, various pairings but Tony-centric, NC17 ) - Identity and gender and Obadiah Stane and Pepper Potts and Jim Rhodes and Tony Stark. Just to clarify: there are two women in the Funvee. And it's sequel: Another Universe. Remember when I recced that Loki/Tony fic, the one that burns you to the ground? This one is like 1000000X more devastating. Handle with caution because this one will gut you, salt your wounds, and Hulk smash you into a wimpering wreck.
m) Be calm, look cute by pollyrepeat (Avengers, Clint/Coulson) - “It's a contingency plan in case of accidental teenagering,” says Stark. Hilarious and adorable and fun!
n) Minions first by boosette (Avengers, gen, pre Clint/Darcy) - Technically, and she will use this contextually with the phrase "meet cute" in the future, the first time Darcy Lewis ever talked to Clint Barton was in a storage closet. This is a great, well thought out and very realistic take on what path Darcy could have taken AT (after Thor).
o) Five minutes (and all the minutes after that) by thingswithteeth (Avengers, Bruce/Darcy) - He’s not sure how, exactly, but Bruce Banner ends up as Darcy Lewis’ boyfriend. For five minutes at a time. Too cute!!
