Hello, darlings! I'm back from Comicon! :DDD It was amazing and wonderful and The Best Thing Ever. <3
Sadly, I am a tiny bit (okay maybe a lot) sick now, which is what happens when you don't get enough rest or food or whatever, but I had so much fun, I REGRET NOTHING. ♥
Non-Comicon stuff:
1) Inception fandom is my forever fandom. You never forget your first. ;) And to celebrate our two year anniversary, please join us at
inceptiversary /
Inceptiversary tumblr /
Inceptiversary twitter - includes fanwork challenges and movie-watch parties! In somewhat related news,
i_reversebang has begun posting! \o/
2) The wonderful
sarea_okelani sent me eps of the Walking Dead S2!! Daryl and Glenn on my screen! \o/ Thank you so much, Sarea!!
3)
aliassmith has put together
this awesome and hilarious story, the saga of Clint and Coulson (told in pictures and gifs!).
4) And there is this
GQ interview with JGL, via
cherrybina. The interview is very, um, JGL-twee-y, but really what I focused on is the SUITS. OMG JGL AND SUITS. *________*
5) Recs!
a)
Drop dead gorgeous Black Widow movie poster by
alicexz (via
sugar_fey) OMG OMG PLEASE MARVEL, I NEED THIS IN MY LIFE
b)
Call them brothers by vongchild (Avengers, Bucky/Natasha, Natasha/Steve) - Steve Rogers and Natasha Romanov disobey Fury's orders and enjoy a European vacation, snap a few necks, and jailbreak a frozen Soviet super-soldier. Absolutely lovely.
c)
Ironsides by
copperbadge (Avengers, Steve/Tony) - Antonia Carter Stark takes no shit and no prisoners. Or the one where Tony is the daughter of Howard and Peggy. :)
d)
Second chance by
arsenicjade (Avengers, gen/team!fic) - The one where Clint gets turned into a child and the team has to take care of him. Sweet and a bit heartbreaking/angstilicious.
e)
Run to ground by hollimichele (Avengers, Bucky/Natasha, Natasha/Steve, Bucky/Natasha/Steve) - “They bought-- what? A body in cryo?” Maria Hill looks skeptical. “How’d one guy fresh out of the ice kill a whole room?” Another great story about Steve and Natasha tracking down the Winter Soldier. MY HEART.
Comicon: just the highlights:
It's hard to distill four days of pure awesome into a few sentences but here goes!
Thursday:
-Spent hours in Artists Alley buying beautiful art (see below)
-Went to a fantastic panel called Masters of the Web, where I met the awesome and lovely
azewewish and got to stare at this hot man for an hour
-Karl Urban is seriously wonderful. He was funny and sweet and always gracious. Example: during the panel's Q&A, a young lady asked him if she could have his nametag. His response? "But I wanted to take this home." *big grin* "Sure, it's yours." And he signed it and handed it over. ♥
Friday:
-Spent five hours in line for the Firefly reunion but didn't make it in =(
-Drowned my sorrow by wandering the exhibit hall and buying Hawkeye merchandise (see below)
Saturday:
-Spent six hours in line and GOT INTO HALL H BABY \o/\o/\o/
-Listened to Quentin Tarantino, Jamie Foxx, Boyd Crowder Walton Goggins, Don Johnson, Kerry Washington, and Christoph Waltz talk about Django Unchained - The movie looks fantastic! And it was pretty cool getting to hear Tarantino talk (endlessly) about his movie.
-After some random panels about Silent Hill and Jake Gyllenhaal's new cop movie (which also taught me what bad moderators sound like), we hit the real meat of Hall H, moderated by Chris Hardwick, who was an awesome moderator: hilarious, engaging, informed. Also, dressed as the Doctor.
-Listened to Guillermo del Toro and cast (including Rinko Kikuchi from Brothers Bloom!) talk about Pacific Rim - I swear, when I first read the plot synopsis, I thought it was an anime series XD The special effects are hardcore. :)
-Saw the first shots of the new Godzilla movie and then promos for Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis's new film - my favorite part of the panel was when someone asked them to each give a political speech in character - IMHO, Will Ferrell is a lot funnier in person than he is in his movies
-Watched cool promos of Man of Steel while also staring at Henry Cavill (he is so pretty!). Zack Snyder, who's directing, was also there to answer questions.
-The Man of Steel panel was really awesome because a lot of great questions were asked. But the best moment was the dude who was so overcome with emotion after seeing the promo that he just stood at the mic and cried. He was very sweet and Chris Hardwick came down to give him a hug. <3
-AND THEN THERE WERE HOBBITS. How to sum up the amazing that was the Hobbit panel? PETER JACKSON. ANDY SERKIS. MARTIN FREEMAN (WITH JAUNTY HAT). GANDALF!! SURPRISE!FRODO! Everything was GLORIOUS and PERFECT, the footage, the questions, the CAST. THERE WILL BE A COOL FEMALE ELF, OMG OMG. I can't wait for this to come out!!
-As a quick aside, while waiting in line for five hours that morning, we observed *lots* of different groups trudging past us heading for the end of the line (and quailing in terror at how far they had to go). One group passed us at about 9; it was two ladies with the most amazing Hobbit costumes, from a distance, they seriously looked like Merry and Pippin. The guy behind me said, "I feel so sorry for these two poor hobbits!" One of the ladies replied: "We're late because we stopped for second breakfast!" BEST EVER ♥
-And then this happened and I was like eeeeee :DDDDD
-And then this happened and I JUST LOST. MY. DAMN. MIND. AJDSKLF;JD;LKSAJF;LKAJDSF
-And then there was this and I was like O_o the hell GIVE ME MY BLACK WIDOW AND HAWKEYE MOVIE(S) DAMMIT /entitled (and then I sighed and went back to thinking about BUCKY)
-Let's...not talk about Antman, ok? Ok. :)
-And then Tony Stark this hot gentleman waltzed in and stole the show (bought the show, whatever)
-The Iron Man 3 footage looked AMAZING! My favorite question came from a nice teenager (it was her 15th bday, and the entire panel sang happy birthday to her because they are awesome human beings) who wanted to know if we would ever see Pepper in the Rescue suit. Vague replies, of course, but a girl can dream! :)
Sunday:
-Met the very sweet and cool
shiroi_ten for the first time!! ♥
-Met one of my favorite authors,
seanan_mcguire OMG! She did a signing as Mira Grant, and not only did she sign the book I brought along (Blackout), she also gave everyone who donated to the Browncoats booth (which I did) a signed copy of either Feed or Blackout. So I now have TWO signed Mira books!! And she was SO NICE and kind and friendly. *happy sigh*
And, of course, the Comicon swag haul!
The art! So when I went to Comicon two years ago, it was my first con ever and I had no idea what I was doing, so I didn't discover Artists Alley till the last day. Tragedy! This time, I spent several hours in Artists Alley on Thursday, Friday, and Sunday looking at prints and trying to decide whether I wanted any commissions (I SO DID). As you can imagine, with so much pretty everywhere, it was super difficult to limit myself. XD
My commissions:
ஐ Hands down, my favorite thing that I purchased! If you look at nothing else in this post, this is where the party's at! The amazing
Peter V Nguyen drew this
gorgeous Black Widow for me! I absolutely adored Peter's
style as soon as I saw his table, and to top things off, Peter himself is lovely and funny and very friendly.
ஐ The talented
Jorge Molina drew this beautiful Clint sketch for me:
ஐ And
Marat Mychaels drew me this sketch of Clint and Natasha:
You can sense a theme here, I think. ;) My only regret is not asking anyone to draw Darcy. Next time!
Prints I bought:
ஐ
Gorgeous Psylocke print by
Joshua Middleton - I love Joshua's art. His style is so beautiful.
ஐ From
Sho Murase,
Psylocke and
Jean Grey - Sho has a really unique style. My friends and I each bought several prints from her because they were all so pretty we couldn't choose just one.
ஐ This adorable print by
Agnes Garbowska:
Her art is SO CUTE. I came really close to buying her
Captain America and Bucky print, too, but I resisted.
ஐ This gorgeous Natasha sketch from
Patrick Ballesteros:
This guy has fantastically whimsical
ideas. Seriously, isn't
this awesome?
Everything else:
T to B, L to R
ஐ The comics: Besides the Supergirl book and the full set of Fury's Big Week, I bought a handful of awesome Aspen variants and I chose the two prettiest for the pic - nothing beats Michael Turner art!
ஐ I found the
Hawkeye collectible bookmark at a random tiny booth. And the box looking thing on the left is actually a picture frame with an imbeded Senitype.
ஐ Adorable
Bane USB drive! This was a SDCC exclusive from mimobot. His little angry FACE. <3
ஐ The
Hawkeye Mini Mugg is too cute for words!
ஐ Darth Vader apology card: "Apology accepted, Captain Needa"
ஐ Two complete sets of movie cards for Thor and Captain America! OMG
Darcy and Sif cards! OMG
Bucky and Peggy cards! \o/
If you actually read all of the above, you are AMAZING and I owe you a million internet cookies! ♥ THIS HAS BEEN A POST!
