We went through a full tank of gas this week, that's more than double what I would usually use. Cameron spent the week at a golf day camp. It was held at the highschool in a neighboring town. They took a shuttle bus to a local golf course and spent the mornings learning about all the clubs and what they are used for and played a variety of games focusing on distance and accuracy. He won a silly band on the first day for getting it closest to a little red flag. He definitely knows more about the sport than I do now. They went back to the school for lunch, played on a miniature golf course set up indoors, and ended the day with swimming. While he was golfing, Emma was at the library constructing a castle out of recycled materials.
Tuesday was Preston's second birthday. We kept him busy running errands and playing at the Family Center. He loves the Baby Beluga song, so I found a Beluga whale figurine to top his ocean themed cake.
I stayed up until midnight creating this cake. Before the girls went to bed they melted and molded the white chocolate for the shells and letters in his name.
He was covered in cake from head to toe and needed a quick bath and wardrobe change before digging into the presents.
During all of this driving for Cameron's camp, I started to get a lot of pain in my lower back and hip. So bad that I couldn't sleep more than a couple hours for 3 nights in a row. I went to the doctor on Friday and she ruled out everything except a possible pinched nerve or shingles. I thought only old people in nursing homes got shingles... I'll just have to assume it's a pinched nerve then. Although ever since she mentioned shingles my skin has started to itch, and I do have quite a few more gray hairs on my head than I did last year. Guess I'm not as young as I think I am. She prescribed a muscle relaxer and prescription strength ibuproferen. I took them both Friday night before bed and slept fine. Unfortunately I spent all day Saturday sleeping and/or walking around like a zombie, which was worse than having the pain.
