Peter's 60th Birthday Party was a great success, everyone came, ate, drank and chatted.  The little Indian restaurant was packed, with all 38 seats full from pretty much 7.30 'till he closed at about 10.30.  The £5 we asked everyone to bring was just the right amount, in fact lots of people ate for even less than that!  The This is Your Life book ( Read more... )

We went to stay with Peter's old chum and partner for the weekend.  They live in the Staffordshire hills in a house which they created from a tumbledown cottage a few years ago in the middle of nowhere.  Two other friends came for supper on Friday night and much fun was had by all.  Our hostess is currently in the beginners fever of a new diet ( ( Read more... )

My epic domestic goddess impression on Sunday went well and I am now the owner of 10 jars of Glutney (marrow, apple, tomato, onion, tons of spices and rather too much chilli) and two seriously fragrant and wicked jars of pesto.  The kitchen smelled delicious and I'm all out of jam jars ( Read more... )

The last three weekends have been spent away from home at various friends houses - Henley, Bristol and finally a long weekend in the Isle of Wight which were all splendid indeed.  The only problem is that I have more or less forgotten what home is actually like.  So this weekend we are being very local indeed.

Mum and i are having lunch at the rather splendid Cafe Twit at the Roald Dahl Museum in Great Missenden it's full of his books and the most tempting cakes and biscuits! Off to Ghastly Guildford next.
