Real Celebration

Dec 22, 2007 22:19

Yesterday both Lam and I had taken annual leave to celebrate my birthday.  We have visited Cheung Chau, a famous outlying island in Hong Kong.  I have not been there for several years already.  I regret we arrived there too late in the afternoon and so we had to rush for the whole trip.  For those who are interested, please view the photos I uploaded to my "Cheung Chau visit" album at my homepage.

Then we had a dinner buffet at a hotel at North Point.  This time the hotel has changed their desserts to Christmas cakes & biscuits instead of my favorite cheese cakes & puddings.  Anyhow, I still have eaten so many things that I felt so sick and basically couldn't do anything after the dinner.  ;_;  I really need to learn "self-control".  orz

As for "real" celebration, I'm not referring to how I celebrated my own birthday, but rather how to make people aware of the existence of God during Christmas time.  This afternoon I have joined my church's brothers & sisters to distribute leaflets and to spread the news of the Gospel at the streets & parks near our church.  This should be the fourth or fifth times I do such a thing.  We went in pairs, and I find this useful because sometimes when I didn't know what to say, my partner can put in a word.  I can't say we are very "successful" because some people rejected to talk to us right on the spot.  My partner & I have only talked to 4 people during an hour.  Most of them are not ready to listen.  Some think that they are very satisfied with their current life and they never thought about life after death.  Some worship other gods and they don't bother to figure out which God is true or what God wants them to do.  It's really difficult to convince people, especially if they don't really know you or trust you.  Anyway, I wish someday they can understand why we are so eager to introduce the Gospel to them.
