The high points of my entire life

Jul 19, 2007 09:54

I have a celebsighting tag in my livejournal, so I can keep track of things like touching Gilby Clarke's sweat, enjoying a Powerman 5000 show just feet away from Rob Zombie, and dining next to Val Kilmer. These are some of the top accomplishments of my life, and I'm not shy about my fangirlishness.

For the sake of completeness, I will now record all the other famous people I have sighted. I am really, really bad at sighting famous people, so usually, my companions point celebs out to me:
  • In August 2006, I went to the premiere of Iraq for Sale: The War Profiteers. My hippie liberal mom donated money to Robert Greenwald's Internet campaign to fund the film, so she gave me at tt the opportunity to attend the premiere. I sat next to (as in "shared an armrest with") Paul Haggis, the director of a little ol' Academy Award winner named Crash. I had absolutely NO idea who he was. tt figured it out right away, and it was very fun to watch the Life Of A Connected Star. People kept walking past, doing a double take, and then conferring in the aisleway with their friends before steadying themselves and making an oh-so-casual comment or industry aside to Mr. Haggis. Spending a few hours next to him made me feel really sorry for anyone with power, because there are so many freakin' hangers on.
  • At that same event, I spotted Ariana Huffington and Marguerite Moreau (by which I mean tt poked me and pointed them out).
  • tt and I saw a man in Santa Monica in 2000 whose image screamed aging-but-hip-rock-n'-roller. tt said it was "the Aerosmith guitarist," but as an Aerosmith fan, I firmly rebutted that claim because (a) it was just not Joe Perry and (b) he was with a wife and kid who are not Joe Perry's wife and kid. tt stood his ground, but did some research later and emailed me a picture of Dean Deleo, guitarist for Stone Temple Pilots, and that is definitely who it was.
  • I've also dined with Newt Gingrich at a work function. We sat at the same table. I actually liked him. Want to see?
  • At a May 2002 performance of the Jim Rose Circus at the House of Blues, I saw both Greg Proops and Art Alexakis. What is unfortunate about this sighting is that all I get to say is "I saw Art Alesha-what-ever from Everclear." And whoever I am talking to invariably tries to think of his full last name, too, and then fails.
These are basically the highlights of my entire life. I will probably spontaneously combust if I ever meet Axl, so you won't get to read about that. Who have you spotted?
