My English professor (of the most boring English class ever*) apparently sang my praises to the newspaper staff, and I, uh. Apparently now have a position on the college newspaper. I really have no idea how this happened. Possibly as both writer and photographer.
And it's not even paid.
*I'm at a community college, and it wasn't possible to test out of the basic comp classes. The prof is apparently so impressed that I write in complete sentences and can properly use a semi-colon that she's going "Whee!". It's rather disconcerting.
