This is why I should never cheat on my diet.
Now the lead up...
Yesterday I decided to blow off church, well half of it....
Okay, more lead up...
Saturday, after writing the first Yuletide fic and being happy about that, I decided to start organizing comics I haven't read to determine what issues I was missing due to switching from my comic book store of thirty years with it's always well done pull list to a book store with its half-assed attempt (and also my fault for not going in for like six weeks and then discovering they don't have a huge overstock). This was supposed to be all the DCNU books I've been avoiding and should have taken a couple hours.
Except I also have all the Xbooks, too. Four years worth of Xbooks. I had to drag huge piles down from upstairs.
So...around one in the morning I was sort of done.
Yeah...
I found I was missing about forty issues of various comics, made a list, then started organizing. I figure I'll read all the DCNU books month by month so I had to put them in the order they were purchased weekly. I'm only about a third of the way done with the Xbooks because there are SO MANY CROSSOVERS and I'll need to organize them within the organization. Basically I have a crap load of Xbooks to read in order to get the Avengers/Xmen crossover this past summer.
So, I blew off church service though I did drag myself to the Holiday Program because I had both my own and my parents' mittens and UUSC guest at the table money boxes and had to buy mom grocery scrip and deliver towels. Needless to say, if they'd been in town, I'd have been whining for mom to come get MY stuff and take it. But it was a nice program, lots of music and a few holiday readings.
Then I skipped the holiday party and headed to the bookstore to buy about six or seven of the missing back issues because they have a very haphazard back issue department. By the time that was done it was one o'clock and I was hungry so I went to Dairy Queen. Was bad and had a cheeseburger and onion rings and bought a peppermint blizzard for later.
Then I spent the afternoon on eBay buying more comics. I'm down to about ten remaining. Apparently the one month I missed buying DCNU books was when the Batbooks got very expensive. I'm not spending $19 on a comic that came out last year. Meanwhile the Chiefs lost. The Raiders never scored a touchdown, only five fieldgoals, I guess that's something. We scored zilch.
Not being that hungry, I heated up a couple leftover scones and made some bacon--not an atrocious dinner.
During the much extended play of Survivor--thank god I had both the show and the reunion show taping an hour over since not only was the President on, but for some reason this is the one show I taped on the Topeka CBS station and two police officers were shot and killed and they broke in for a half hour (and then replayed about fifteen minutes of Survivor during the questioning and voting--weird). I barely had the timing right thanks to the extra hours. Where was I? Oh, right, I wrote about eighty Christmas cards. :) So, that's done.
Did not write other fic, though. *sigh*
Then I ate the Blizzard and read fanfic till around 2:00 when I dozed off on the couch. Woke up with my computer on my stomach and Elektra on my chest and my tummy killing me.
It's now 10:40 in the morning and I'm still full. No breakfast. Not even any coffee.
So, if I'm going to go off the diet next week during staycation, I need to do it in moderation.
Also, this cold still sucks and I still have massive amounts of stuff to do--fic writing and church service planning and house cleaning--before Christmas.
Oh, in happier news, gas is below $3.00 for the first time in ages! Let's hope it stays there until after work so I can get some (and that it's $2.99 on the rich side of town where I'll be grocery shopping and gas getting).
