My Dad had been sick for some time now, his kidneys and other organs had been slowly shutting down due to his age, he was 96. Yesterday he passed away. He was surrounded by family and went very quickly. Please forgive me if I go quiet for a while as I am feeling very sad and alone now that both my parents are gone. Thank you everyone.

I just found out that my father is really starting to fail now. He was in the hospital on Wednesday where the doctors told my stepmother that his kidneys are no longer working and he is slowly dying. They have started palliative care and are making him as comfortable as possible ( Read more... )

Not much happening. I visited my dad, he is doing okay but when we drove up to his house, he was standing out the front and he didn't recognise the car and seemed confused. As soon as Dad saw us, he looked almost relieved. It gave me a fright but as Steve pointed out, he is nearly 95. I guess at that age we are all allowed to be a little confused. ( Read more... )

I have re-homed my little dog so I am feeling sad. With both my cat and dog gone to new homes now the unit seems so quiet. I called in to visit Dad and he is not doing so well. He is nearly 94 and he now has two spots on his lungs-he is a non smoker-and his prostate is enlarged so that's a worry at his age ( Read more... )

It's all been happening this week. First of all, my niece gave birth to a beautiful baby girl called Dakota. It is her first so exciting for the whole family. On a sadder note, my 92-year-old father is back in hospital again. He went in yesterday with chest pains and it turns out that his kidneys are only functioning at 20 per cent. I went to my dad's 90th birthday party today. It was lovely. So hard to believe that he is 90 tomorrow. He is still going strong though.

Sad to hear that Leonard Nimoy passed away. It's so sad to know that we are now living in a world without Mr Spock.

I will be so glad to get this year over and done with. My father is in hospital with suspected bleeding. I visited him on Sunday and I noticed how pale and weak he was then. I received a call a couple of days after from my step mother saying that he was taken to hospital. I went out there yesterday and he is on blood transfusions and iron. I'm ( Read more... )
