Relay For Life (and some tv and movie reviews. no spoilers though.)

Biggest news from me right now is that I am being honored friday night at the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life event at Bellarmine College. This is a twelve hour event from 6pm to 6am, where teams raise money and promise to have a team member walking a race track at all times. so clearly, it involves staying up all night or camping out. I was asked to participate extremely last minute. As the honorary survivor of the event, I will be leading the first lap around the track. They want me to briefly tell me story, and I am going to take the opportunity to inform people about my Young Adult Support Group and maybe get a few names of interested parties. Wish me luck. It feels a bit odd.

My chemosomnia was a bit better this week, but that's not saying much, really. Fell asleep shortly before 5am last night, but I'm hanging in. I think that the new nausea medicine, Aloxi, is definitely helping. My Zofran intake has been cut down significantly. I am wondering though if it's contributing to my worsening insomnia on normal nights.

But enough about all that. Very excited for tonight's episode of Lost. Anyone not hooked, you're missing out. Same goes for Veronica Mars. The mysteries on both of these shows are very engaging and well written. Which is pretty rare for television these days, what with all of the craptacular reality shows. Although I will plead guilty to watching the most ridiculous of ridiculous reality shows on Sunday night while suffering from chemosomnia. On the Oxygen channel no less. It's called Mr. Romance and is the search for the next Fabio/Harlequin Romance cover model. It completely objectifies men and is hi-freaking-larious! The ridiculousness of the whole show takes the word ridiculous to new heights. Man. The crap that's on television at 2am.

Got to see the sneak preview of Sin City last week. As far as the artistic direction, the film was a beautiful success. I don't think it could have looked any more like a comic book than it did. And I should know, being the huge comic book geek that I am. The sparse use of color in the movie did throw me off a bit though. Color was used so sparsely throughout the film that it felt as though there should have been a code of meaning behind each color. But I don't think there actually was. I thought I had red figured out, but then they threw in a couple of red details that didn't fit. So maybe the colors were just eye-candy. I think I have green, yellow and blue figured out though. Maybe. Plot-wise, the movie was engaging, but very Tarantino-esque. It was obvious which segment he had directed as well. Kinda made me want to rent Kill Bill again. Overall, I enjoyed the movie. So did my little sister, the dancing-dentist.

Alright, back to the grind for me. Hope you're all having a nice day.
