I haven't really been following The Hobbit news. I was kind of figuring it would never actually come together. However, it's finally starting to look like it's taking shape. I was reading EW's PopWatch blog and made this delightful casting discovery: Peter Jackson has announced that Richard Armitage will be taking on the role of Thorin Oakenshield.
I'm a big fan of Richard Armitage from his roles of the dark and brooding Guy of Gisbourne (BBC's re-imagining of the Robin Hood legend) and John Thornton (Elizabeth Gaskell's romantic novel of two economically and socially diverse protagonists, North and South).
This news actually has me excited about this movie. I am so stoked!! I will be so sad if it doesn't come together or if the casting changes.
Now perhaps I should actually read the book (I've had it read to me when I was little, but have never read it personally.). Or go rewatch the above listed shows...
