TA TA DANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!
OMG PPL surprised to be reading this? Yes it's a post from Mandy! After 10 weeks of being MIA! Yikes! Raise the alarm! The apocalypse is approaching!!!! ^____________^
Yes yes why have i been AWOL for so long? Simple answer....sheer laziness! Yikes! *ducks to avoid bricks*
I'm sorry!!! But once u got out of the habit of updating, it's really easy to continue NOT updating! And as the days continue, the amount of thing that u're supposed to update seems more n more until it becomes more of a chore.
But today i'm in a specially good mood so i'll just post abit of drabble here. I STILL need to work up the courage to face the tons of f-list entries that i haven't view yet, so kisses n cookies to those that i haven't commented on!
Okay major updates first. I've already graduated! Woot! Well since exams are already over, and my convocation is on the 31st of august! Yeahhhh i get to wear the graduation gown n the hat! Can't wait for that cos that, imho, seems like the visual proof that i've sweated, slaved and puked my brains out for 3 years in school and have managed to survive it all w/o flunking any exams! SCORE!
So now i'm currently job-searching, which makes me miss school more~! Hahaa! Yup, job searching is boring! Especially having to tweak my resume to fit for different job positions. Bleh! Any reccs pls throw it my way! ^_~
Erm....lemme see, i haven't met up with my uni friends very frequently. So far i heard that a few have found jobs, altho some really surprised me. I heard that one of my classmate is applying to be a stewardess so she can travel first, and another became an insurance planner. Erm...i was approached by AIA and Prudential but i turned them down, i'm not interested in doing ANY sort of insurance sales/whatever thingy. Which is why i'm surprised my fren became an insurance planner but whatever floats her boat.
How are you guys???? I miss ya all like nuts. I'd love it if i could get a summary of what's been happening in the LJ world. I was planning on going for the cosfest in July but i fell sick!!! ARGHHHH!!! Sick dammit! So i missed all the cosplaying goodness! *sniff*
Oh and why i'm happy today? It's because i found another BL fan!!!!!! Right in my japanese class! I dun speak to this girl alot, but today she decided to join me and tracey for dinner after class and after a bit of "hints" and "testing the water" i discovered she's a yaoi fan! OMGG!!! DO YOU NOE HOW HARD IT IS TO FIND BL FANS IN SG???!!!! And it seems like she reads a heck of of yaoi too and is a FRIGGING NARUTO YAOI FANGIRL WHICH IS LIKE AHHHHHHHHHHHH I LOVE YOU WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY YAOI-LOVING LIFE?!!!!!!!!!!! She has same taste as me!!! UKENaru!!!!!! Hohohohoho *evil fangirl cackling* So yeah i'm happy like mad now. ^_^
Hmmm i'd already forgotten some of the things i wanted to update in the past. Erm...my youngest niece turned 1 last month which is like yay! But my sis and my aunt and grandma had a big tiff over some invitation miscommunication and now they're sorta having a cold war. Ugh i hate family "politics" shall i call it? My grandma was giving my mom such an earful on the phone during the party that i had to calm her down with my "sweet charming young girl act". Hehehe yes as disgusting as it sounds, it had to be done for the sake of temporary peace.
Firstly, holy cow i hated the ending! I'm sorry but i had expected harry to die or something. Or mebbe live but suffer some wound or habour some dark misgiving that he would have to live with for the rest of his life. Seriously tho, you may hate me for this, but i had hoped harry would die. Why? Because that would make such a cool ending! The hero died while killing off Voldemort in an epic final battle of unparalled grandeur! Wouldn't that make such a cool children/young adults fiction? But noooo, Rowling had to have harry kill off the villian with some big cheesy flourish-y finish and have a happily ever after ending. Ahhhh it just totally threw it back in the Children's Books and the good ending section. Altho i noe it IS supposed to be a children book, hence the probability of a good ending is high but still....i had hope for a more unique finish. *whines*
P.S: Did anyone find that Voldemort seems like abit of a brainless git? It seems he made so many mistakes over presumption and arrogance. I mean, it's understandable becos he's so powerful but after making those mistakes a few times(esp one time when he lost his body while trying to kill baby harry), he would've learnt by now?
And wtf is up with the 19 years later epilogue??!!! Guh i'm sorry to all Harry/Ginny fans but i absolutely loathe this pairing! It doesn't make sense to me and i hated it. Anytime in the book where harry thought of ginny or gazed at her or kisses her etc...i cringed and wanted to gouge my eye out.
Firstly, this pairing created such a fairy tale story akin to the fantasies of young girls. Girl has crush on boy in the beginning, boy doesn't notice girls, then in the end boy falls in love with girls. I mean c'mon! This pairing just came pretty much out of the blue in the 6th book and when harry caught ginny snogging some other guy! That seems more like jealousy and lust to me. And not trying to hate on Ginny, but it seems as though she became schizophernic in the course between the 2nd book and the 6th. At first she is an unfailingly devoted Harry fangirl and the next she is a complete slut, dating and dumping boys. Yeah you can tell i have no love for her. =_=
So all in all the H/G pairing felt forced and unnecessary and i feel that JK Rowling should step away from writing romance and concentrate on the action.
Yes i apologize for the ranting. I'm just disappointed with the ending that's all.
If anything i tot that if harry HAD to pair up with someone, i tot he and Luna make an interesting pair. Although eccentric, Luna is very intelligent, and has a deep understanding of Harry. The development of Harry's and Luna's relationship over the three books would make them a more plausible couple than Harry/Ginny. Not to mentioned Luna was one of the more intriguing characters from the last two books.
The ron/hermione pair i can still understand, since hints of their feelings have been cropping up since GoF with the whole krum issue and all. But i wished Rowling had written the epilogue differently instead of making it all focued on the couples and their kids and how their lives have reverted back to normal. So many questions arer left unanswered. Why didn't we get any details on how the wizarding world was being run, what happened to Hogwarts, who's the new headmaster(altho i luv the fact that Neville was a professor), what happened to Luna, who did Draco married(OMG can u imagined if it was Luna? It would certainly keep the platinum silver-blond hair bloodline alive), did the old toad Umbridge(god i hate her but the actress in the movie was wonderfully irritating enuf) etc...
So many things we wanna noe but don't. Sigh...
But there were some parts of the book that i adored! One of which is AHHHAHAH SNAPE IS NOT A BAD GUY! And zomg the fanfictions were right! He did love Lily!!!! Yahhhh!!! Suddenly made this pairing sooo *hearts* for me~!!! Esp the patronus scene in the penseive where he showed Dumbledore that he still loved her all this time! *swoon*
Plus he loved her since they were kids! I mean c'mon! How romantic is that!!! Not to mentioned snape's chara is one of the more developed out of all the other charas in the book. Heck, i feel that even Ron doesn't seem as developed as him.
Speaking of Ron, you have no idea how many times i wanted to just reach out and smack him hard on the head. Or bop him on the nose for being such a prat. Bitching and being a prick because of lack of food. *roll eyes* Not to mentioned abandoning them! But at least he came back so...i think i can forgive him. *glares while ron cowers in the corner*
And i liked how Kreacher and Harry ended up getting on better terms later. I was actually feeling sorry for Kreacher in this book and even liked the little bugger after awhile. Poor misunderstood elf.
I did like the scene with Dudley being all "I'm gonna miss you, Harry". Not that I always loved the Dursleys but I'm glad to see that deep down they (or at the very least Dudley) care about Harry some. So it made the parting seem all the more bittersweet since they won't ever meet again and i think deep deeeeeeeeeep down, if given a chance herry and dudley might've been good friends.
There was so many deaths! I hated that she killed off Fred! Dammit! I like the twins so much, why must they be seperated! And i like Fred better than George too! *sniff* Couldn't she have killed off Rita Skeeter or Umbridge or...or Percy!??? LOL! Sorry of all the Weasleys he's the one i dun really care much abt. The saddest death for me had to be Dobby because I thought it was handled well and I actually shed a tear at burial bit. Brave Dobby!!!
I really like the fact that Rowling made Dumbledore into a character with flaws instead of the all-knowing and wise wizard that we know him as. Seeing him in his youth with selfishness, misguided ambitions, and the friendship with Grindelward(sp?) made him seemed all the more realistic and human. It really helped to fleshed out his character into more than some two dimensional mysterious and powerful wizard, so yeah i did like the chara development here.
Albus Serverus. The name does not work for me and i cracked up at this part because i tot it was a joke. Enuf said.
Paced of the book was varied. At some parts it was sooo slow that i felt like i was dragging myself thru mud, particularly those hiking cross country and camping in forets bit. It was so...draggy, for lack of a better work. But i tot the battle scene at Hogwarts was great! Really exciting and fast-paced. I wished draco would have played a more good-guy role but i guess that was just my fangirl wishing. ^_^
Okieeee that was a long rant. *whew*. Now all i need to do is to read thru as much of my f-list as possible and i'll be able to get back into the game(sorta).
