I've been meaning to do a state of the union and I guess now is as good a time as any. When was the last time I posted one? Eh, a while ago. Certainly not weekly, like I thought I might do. Daily is out of the question.

Self. I have Celiac Disease. This means I'm allergic to wheat (gluten). This means eating is damn near impossible in restaurants. I'm also vegetarian. It's very hard to find things to eat in public. At home, though, I'm getting better about finding new and different things to eat. I found good bagels. And pizza crust that tastes real! And these really good cookies. And I've started baking my own stuff, which is good in the long run, too. I'm pretty much past the "this totally sucks!" phase and am moving into the "I can deal with this" phase. Bonus is that I can watch a whole hockey game without having to *coughs* leave the room.

Family. My grandparents have moved into assisted living. My grandfather is in the hospital right now to get him straightened out. He's confused a lot of the time and can't really follow conversations, but sometimes he looks good and he's still as funny as ever. It's scary sometimes. But it's how things are going to be. He isn't going to get better from here, only worse. It's the moments when he's acting like himself that make me want to cry.

Hockey. I went to the Bruins, Red Wings game a couple weeks ago. It was amazing. I'll get those pictures up someday. Probably after I get the Bruins, Penguins ones up. Whenever that is. Sometime soon. Hopefully before January when I'm going to see the Bruins play the Devils.

Bruins. Holy fuck! I'm so proud of my boys I can't find the right words. It's been a hell of a season and yet every game they're playing just as hard. The kids are fantastic and the usual suspects are doing just as well. Timmy is knock your socks off good. Phil is on fire right alongside Marc. Matt Hunwick is the cutest thing on skates and I adore him. Our goals for is 106 and our goals against is 67. We are first in the conference by four points. And we're only second in the league by four points. I look forward to every game. This season is a reward for the faithful and I want all the pink hats off the bandwagon.

Coyotes. I've been watching a lot of them and I'm totally falling. I already really liked Danny Carcillo from last season, and I like him even more now. He's a firecracker! Penalties all over the place and sometimes he even scores a goal. But I like all the young kids on that team. Peter, of course. Kyle Turris is a pip. Mikkel and the new Swede, Joakim, are too cute together. And of course there's Jovo. It cracks me up with then opposition's feed calls him Jovo like his mother named him that. I like watching them, so that says something about their system.

Red Wings. I want to be Brian Rafalski when I grow up. He has the tightest command on his skating than I've ever seen in person. I forgot to watch other things, in watching the way he skates. I hope someday I have that kind of control. The team themselves have been a little disappointing this season. They're not as interesting to watch, it seems. They're not battling as much as they have, like it's just too easy to win. They're not as interested in the game as a team that's that good should be. I'm not sure what I would do for guys like Pavel and Henrik to get them excited again, but something. The rivalry with Colorado is completely gone and the isn't anything really to replace it. That's what we need.

Predators. I want Jason Arnott.

Ducks. I don't know what happened during that Ducks, Sharks game but everyone went crazy! Scott got a misconduct! I missed it, of course, but just the idea makes me laugh. I'm going to see the Sharks play the Bruins eventually, but this game kinda made me wish I was going to see the Sharks play the Ducks instead. I love a good rivalry. Also I think this is Teemu's last year, which is good since St Louis really could use Paul back. But all in all, not a horrible season so far.

Oilers. Even though he traded Ryan Smyth for no reason, I wonder how well the Oilers are really going to do without Kevin Lowe running things. But we'll see. Dustin has woken up which is always nice to see. He's very streaky and has been since he started, but now that he's getting older that isn't going to be forgiven so easily. It's pretty noticeable who is missing from the roster but the kids are trying their best to make up for it. Sam isn't having his best year, certainly not if you compare him to Pat, but he's coming along and he'll be okay. I'm glad his concussion isn't bad. It's not going to be a Cup run, but building slowly is the way to go.

Devils. Stop me if you've heard this one before..... Brian is a Devil. And actually playing. He's getting switched around on lines, though, which makes sense since he needs to come back properly, but we could also use some consistently scoring top lines. The Jamie-Zach-Travis line needs to stay intact. Period. They work well together. Then I liked Brian-Patrik-Gio for as much as there isn't a better third person on that line than Gio. If I could have Petr back or Jason, I'd put him there, but since I don't have that option, Gio is fine. Jay and John should never be on different lines, it's just not right. As for defence.... ugh. Paul and Colin are the top pair. That's just sad. From a team that held some of the best D in all of hockey, that's sad. A trade for at least one good D would be nice. And Marty to come back. Yes, we still need him. This proves it. He can feel good in the fact that we need him.

Rangers. I still support Sean Avery. I wish he had stayed with the Rangers, I think he was fantastic on Brandon's line. I'd put him with him and Nikolai now, or Brandon and Markus and it'd be great. They all need someone to protect them and take a pass. Aaron isn't cutting it. I wish there was the cap room to take him back, it would be good for everyone involved. I'd much rather see him back than Brendan. But speaking of him, he needs to either sign or retire. I hate this waiting game thing. It bugged me when Scott did it and it's bugging me now. Just sign already.

Baseball. No word on Jason. No word on Derek. This is distressing. It's more likely that Jason will stay than Derek and I supposed if I had to pick which I'd rather I'd rather Jason stay with us, so that's at least a positive thing. The Yankees piss me off. Buying everything everyone else wants doesn't make you a good team, it makes you a mish-mash. Just ask the Lightning how well it worked for them.

Work. Still looking. Wish me luck.

Christmas cards. I'm sending them out! If you want one, comment here with a team. It doesn't have to be your team, per se, but pick a team you like 'cause it will be involved with the card. I'm actually looking forward to putting them together this year, so leave a comment.

I think that's it. Any questions?
