My! What a productive day!

Today was an off day from work, but boy did I make good, full use of it! Let me tell you of my accomplishments:

* Steve & I packed up lots of stuff from my bedroom and carted it over to the house we're buying (the still-current owners have graciously allowed us to put boxes of our stuff in the garage, even though the closing date on the home is this coming Friday). We also transported Steve's period encampment gear and stowed in the aforementioned garage.

* Steve, me, Dad & Mom went over to talk to the scheduler at Dorothy Oven Park; amazingly, our newly rescheduled wedding date -- Saturday, April 5, 2008 -- coincided with an opening for a reception event at said popular park. Honestly, Mom only called them for funsies since we didn't think there would be any chance that the locale would be available. But since there was an opening, we grabbed it and put down our deposit today.

* In honor of selyrabbit's birthday today, Steve & I had her and katzenburg over for dinner. I got out the fancy china (for kind of a last hurrah before I pack it away for transport to the new house) and made marinated cherry-teriyaki pork over fried rice. For dessert there was a Boston cream pie, and I also served this yummy Marrakesh Mint tea that I bought at the Tea & Spice Store in St. Augustine.

So that was my day, and boy was it full and tiring. But lots of fun, I assure you.

Now, for y'all who are on my Wedding Team -- I know that we let you all know a while ago that we'd ditched the Jan. 5 date for the marriage festivities, and we'd let you know when we set another date. Today was the first day that I felt I could really officially announce the newly re-set date (4/5/08), because we actually put money down on our venues, and so they're all locked in. I'm going to be emailing you all in the next day or so about the recalibrated plans. And georgie_bird, I'd like in particular to set up a time for us to get together to discuss where we go from here in getting stuff set. I know we've all had crazy summer goings-on, but now that we're back on track, I want to get your advice on what to do next.

By the bye -- Steve & I are currently entertaining the idea of honeymooning in California. Our tentative plans are to make a leisurely drive from San Francisco down the Big Sur highway to San Diego, seeing interesting stuff along the way. If any of y'all know of 1) neat sights to see, 2) inexpensive but nice/decently clean places to stay en route or 3) great things to do generally on that itinerary, let me know! Right now we're just trying to see if such a trip is feasible with our time/money situation.
