I went to Placerville/Shingle Springs this weekend, where I have family. Also: have a blast. I went wedding dress shopping, found the perfect dress for a steal, played, cooked, made dance show costumes with my cousin, and took the following hilarious picture of her 5 month old son (the one I sewed the shopping-cart seat for).

I got back February 19th from visiting The Boy in Michigan over Valentine's Day, but things after that have been such a whirlwind that I haven't had any time to share my adventures. I had a kinetics final on February 21 and then The Boy was here for another job interview and then I dealt with a bunch of family stuff...and here we are ( Read more... )

Well, I'm finally settled enough to blog about my vacation involving many bizarre and surreal but memorable experiences, including picking the bird shot out of a wild duck I ate. This last month or so has been a maddeningly, horribly, frustratingly bust. Really. Just terrible.

But I survived.

And now I'm unemployed!

Yes, I've quit my job. There are aspects of working in research that I will really, really miss....

Like liquid nitrogen. Man, that stuff is really fun to use!

Saturday Tee and I drove down to Pebble Beach to stay with friends. Traffic wasn't too bad; it took us about 2 hours to get there. The drive was really beautiful and the weather on the coast was lovely and clear.

My dad had eye surgery today, so I left work at 2:00 and went home so I could be of some use. Needless to say, he's fine and being his usual crotchety self ("I'm fine!
