Hall & Oates was a main musical staple of the era of legwarmers, frizzy hair and terrible fashion. Although the sartorial choices of that decade is shudder-worthy, the music of the 80's was fantastic. One of the beautiful things I discovered when I fell into fandom (firstly Supernatural, now together with Inception) is the number of brilliant people who analyse the material we obsess over and puts it up to be enjoyed and discussed by others.

From the Supernatural fandom, I learnt that race/ethnic/gender issues can be explosive and multi-faceted. ( Read more... )

For most girls, the draw of watching Top Gun was Tom Cruise. For me, it was Val Kilmer. Even in a negative role, Val was charismatic, engaging and a hell of a better actor than the Scientologist. Most of his body of work was in heavy drama, which is why not many people recognised his skills as a comedic actor as well.
