Only two more days of work this week. Two more days of being the only rider aside from my 75 year old boss. Becky comes back from her vacation this weekend so starting Monday, hopefully things won't take as long to get done. Though her being gone led to me riding more of the horses and Bruce suddenly coming to the realization that I'm a good rider. He actually had this conversation with me:
Bruce, after watching me gallop Lonesome Nun: "Do you think you're a better rider now than when you came?"
Bonnie: "No, though I'm probably more fit."
Bruce, looking thoughtful and maybe confused: "Huh. I must have just missed it before."
I wanted to smack him. He hasn't really even watched me ride up until now, but he has assumed due to my minuscule size that I just must not be that strong. Another conversation we had involved him asking if I thought I was strong enough to ride Jelly Berry. I said of course, that I'm a lot stronger than I look. He laughed and gave me this skeptical look and was like, "Well I guess we'll find out!" Of course, I was plenty strong enough. She's tough, and tries to yank my arms out and my hands are usually stuck in a clenched position after galloping her, but I do just fine with her and he's even admitted it.
He's spent the week acknowledging and complimenting my riding, which has been nice. He's even started asking me how much I weigh. I'm trying not to get my hopes up that he'll start talking about some point to point races soon. He told me today that Becky wouldn't be able to make the weight. And I'm apparently light enough that we'd have to actually add lead to the saddle pads. I would LOVE to ride Gilly or Dynaskill or Bow or Flyer or Tracey or Jelly in a race.
Anyway, I'm rambling. I'm looking forward to Becky being back.
