Right now, he knows he's waiting for something; someone?
And at least he knows he's not alone, feeling Ventus' presence like it's right here with him. A connection that goes much deeper than the mere feeling of being in the same room together, even sitting next to each other. It's something deeply rooted and he takes comfort in the feeling that the loneliness from before is gone ( ... )

At first, it was crippling blackness. it felt like ice, trapped in an icy prison where all his limbs were stone and he couldn't even think of breathing. like a tomb, one he'd never wake up from. panic seized his already tired Heart. was he destined to be there forever? maybe...
no. he refused, and his feelings of valor, of friendship, made the ice surrounding his Heart fade, melt away, and his Heart shone like a beacon. it beckoned others. and the two hearts that joined him, now linked as they fell through the darkness, all shined together. Ven, Roxas, and Sora.
the darkness faded to light--glowing light and florescent glass and dark structures. and he was the last one there, just as he had been the last to fall out of all three of them.
he opened his eyes to see their backs. ]
Roxas...? Ven...? [ --!! ]
Roxas! Ven! [ and he jumped to them, tugging both of them into a hug at alternate times, overjoyed by their appearance. ]

[He has the feeling Roxas knew he was there too.]
Sora. Roxas. [He stretches, yawning, before slumping down to the ground, leaning back on his hands and grinning up at the both of them. The smile fades substantially at his next words, however.]
So we all--?

[ The sudden feel of arms wrapping around him breaks him out of the sleepy haze that he's been under since who knows when. It brings back to where he- they presently are, familiar image under his feet and that warm connection that he thought he had lost. A second later and he's returning that embrace to Sora, his brother, before looking over to Ventus and giving a small smile.
Never before has he felt this at peace, this complete, than he has at this moment. ]
Hey guys. [ His voice is softer, just a bit solemn, but only those who really knows him would find the difference. There's a reason they're all here, isn't there? Both him and Ventus had been waiting, true, and now they know why they were waiting. But the next question is how.
Blue eyes look off to the side, already knowing the answer without anyone saying anything. ]
I think so. We.. wouldn't be here if we didn't, right?

[ Sora glanced from Ven to Roxas and then back and forth once more. Wouldn't be here if they didn't-- ]
Oh. [ he pressed a hand against his chest and closed his eyes. ] ... I guess that's true. [ he murmurs, a little hollowly. he didn't mean to end up like this, of all things. he wondered what John must be going through right now and winced. what about Riku, and Kairi, and... Aqua and Terra? he swallowed hard, clutching the sides of his pant legs in frustration and sadness. ]
At least we're all together, right? [ he looked up to his linked brothers, and a smile crept onto his face. a relieved one. ]

[But no, they're still here. Roxas, Sora, and him, they're all still here. Which brings up all the questions and thoughts, all the things he's been wanting to say, yet hasn't.]
Yeah...we are. [He smiles slightly, the feeling taught and difficult to attain, harder to keep on his face. So this was where he'd have to-] For now, but...
I need to ask you guys something. A favor.

But. It's been a while since he's felt so at peace. Like the worries he's been keeping just faded away. ]
Yeah, it's nice. [ His smile is a little sad, almost wistful at the mention of being together but then he turns questioning eyes towards Ventus. ]

was this what he was planning to ask? Sora frowned a little and crossed his arms. he nodded once and then shifted a little, tilting his head. ]

[But this was it.]
Roxas...Roxas already knows about me and Vanitas. [It begins as a husky murmur, Ven clearing his throat after saying his Other's name.] Xehanort separated him from me years ago. He's my darkness.
And if we ever fight--
[Destruction. Insanity. The look on Aqua's face as she'd faced down Vanitas in his own body; the look Vanitas had twisted into his expression, manic glee at all the chaos.]
[Panic and fear, as he'd lost his grip on the χ-blade.]
I can't let that happen again. If we're here, then part of us still exists, right?
[Ventus takes a deep breath, standing. Dropping his gaze to the ground, rather than face the expression likely to be on either face turned to him.]I can't go back. So...I need you to do me a favor ( ... )

Put an end to you?
Sora can't believe what he's hearing. His mind rewind, replays, like a dusty old cassette, scratched and coated with noise in places. the moments on meeting Ven, the moments during fighting, when he found out he died, not through the network but through a stab of pain in his own chest, one he couldn't even try to get up by himself afterwards, though Roxas had added to that as well--and finally, fighting. fighting blind, to try and be everyone's hope. to try and keep everyone together.

for Ven. for Roxas. he was trying to keep everyone together for both of them! he didn't want to go back without both of them, clasping their hands together. he

he didn't feel whole without them.
and this--this was just wrong! there was no way they were destroying Ven just because of Vanitas, oh, he'd give that guy a piece ( ... )

[He feels the wetness at the corner of his eye, feels it slide down his cheek. But he can't bring himself to wipe it away, not when he knows he's not crying for his own pain. He's crying for Roxas. Crying with Sora.]
[And even now, when his heart is completely sunk, when his shoulders feel like lead and his whole body is utterly, assuredly numb-]
[He smiles, just for them. Because they need him to.]
Roxas, it's okay. Just listen to me. Just for a minute. [It may be difficult to keep his expression happy, but he does know he's at peace with what he's asking for, knows it's right for so many reasons.]It's not fair... to keep existing when it just puts all of you in danger. Terra, Aqua- Axel and Xion too. What about Riku and Kairi ( ... )

[ and for Sora, that's final. he finally manages to lift a hand to let his arm scrub against his face, trying to wipe away the tears.
he couldn't just sit here and cry silently, just because it hurt that much. he had to--he had to say something more. ]
I saw what happened when you were gone and Aqua and Terra was on their own. They--they were really sad. You're too important to do this to!
We care about you. We're your friends... maybe more than that, I dunno. Roxas is right. None of us want you gone. When people share a destiny, you fight through everything together. That's what we're gonna do, okay? We're not gonna let you go through this on your own.
All of us, we're all in this together.

[If resolution was named Sora. If anything, Sora's desperation shines through all the more. Ventus can feel it, the sadness and the fear and please, don't go away. His eyes sting, hands going up to rub at them furiously. He's not going to cry again. He won't start off another chain reaction.]
Guys... it's not that easy. You all...[He swallows.] You could all get hurt. Someone could die.
I can't live like that, worrying about you guys, who I'll lose just by being there. What could happen just for that- that thing.
[He looks back to the ground, biting his lip. All this time, all these travels, and only now has he really come across what he'd been searching for all along. More than a resolution, but a connection.]I spent so much time trying to make friends ( ... )

[ How long has he had to worry about the blond, endless nights just staying awake when he doesn't know how Ventus is doing? That time they separated from each other, there hasn't been a single moment when he hasn't worried and wondered if he's okay. Knowing that he could be alone just makes it all worse.
This feeling, this single emotion made so strong just because of how close he's gotten to not only Ventus but Sora as well. He... cares when he hadn't really before, not even with his memories from the simulated town, and no doubt it's thanks to these two right here. And though it's overwhelming half the time, he's grateful for being able to feel like a normal person, to be able to feel how these two are so that he kind of knows what they're going through. It's not to a very deep extent because he doesn't have a heart but. Better a little than not at all.
Roxas takes a step towards Ventus, his eyes softening and his voice losing the edge it had taken. ]We're in this ( ... )
