Asha hadn't known how long Bowen would be gone for. He hadn't even given her much warning about the trip, just dropped her a quick gonna go out with Ace on his boat, be back soon. She'd known not to ask to go with him. He wanted the time alone, away from her.

She'd gone to look for the mountains instead, for some quiet, away from the constant noise of the city. It was overwhelming, being surrounded by it constantly. She knew, she was meant to be learning to deal with it. Her mother had been moving them down to the city before she'd woken here. But that was a normal city, not the tangled tapestry of whatever Promenade was. Maybe she would have been alright with it, if Bowen was with her - her Bowen. But instead Promenade had led her to a very different version of her twin, one that couldn't balance her, not the way she was used to. And it was cruel to ask him to try.

But she couldn't get used to being alone. Finding the mountains and the house only made it worse, in many ways. Everything was exactly the way she remembered, but it was empty, a mockery of the home she knew. And they called it Solace.

She needed to get out of Promenade. More than that, she needed to get Bowen out.

She couldn't ignore the idea that had come up in the conversation with Charles. The risks didn't matter, not when weighed against the chance that it could be their way out. She understood the man's hesitation, but there would always be risks, and if it gave them an answer - any answer - then it was worth it. She was strong enough for it, too, she knew. He wouldn't hurt her. She just needed to show him that.

Bowen had been back a day, but she didn't tell him anything about it. She knew he'd tell her the whole thing was reckless, stupid, dangerous. But he wouldn't think anything of her going wandering. She doesn't have directions to Charles' mansion, but the threads she could sense in the making of Promenade were useful in that. They led her, and soon enough she was there.

Imposing, the largest house she'd ever seen, and she isn't entirely sure what to do next. She'd knock on the front door, but she can't tell which it is. She ends up wandering a circle around the building, wondering if she should just enter, wondering if she should have sent a message before she came over. She stops eventually by the door that she thinks is the front of the house, hesitating a moment, then walking up and knocking.
