Chapter Five

Morning came and the unsuspecting boys were forced to shield their eyes from the sunlight peeking through the hole-filled curtains covering the window. Groans and grumbled curses came from each of them as they unwillingly woke up and rubbed the sleep from their eyes.

Yoochun felt around beside him to wake Junsu up, but he felt nothing but the cold fabric of the sleeping bag. His eyes snapped open, now fully awake and he peered over only to find the spot where Junsu had slept last night empty. He frowned and almost felt hurt, but ignored the stinging in his eyes.

The others were talking about how they were going to get to school when they realized that Yoochun hadn’t said a word yet. Jaejoong was the first to notice because he was right next to him and he couldn’t hear the cussing that he knew Yoochun did when he woke up in the morning. Jaejoong’s eyes widened and he gasped, causing both Changmin and Yunho to lean over and look in the same direction the prep was. They both gasped as well.

Junsu was gone. His part of the sleeping bag didn’t even look like anyone had slept on it.

Yoochun turned weary eyes to the other three and his vision focused on something in the general direction of Jaejoong’s chest. The latter looked down and almost jumped when he saw a note pinned to his shirt. He raised an eyebrow and promised to beat whoever put holes in his favorite top.

He ripped the note off and read it aloud:

Dear guys,

Good morning! Rise and shine, make sure that you guys are untangled from one another before coming to school… Don’t want anyone talking, ne? (Or do you? :])

We’ve decided to go ahead and not wake you guys because we didn’t want to be on the receiving end of any anger. So, anyway, get to school soon! Don’t be late~!

See you guys there.

Signed,

Ryeowook, Leeteuk, Donghae, Kangin and Kibum

Yoochun glared at the note in Jaejoong’s hand, thinking that if he stared long enough it would burst into flames. He was embarrassed to say the least, but he was also grateful. He made a mental note to thank Leeteuk and Donghae, maybe it would be thanks to them that the whole ‘cliques’ would finally be done for. Of course, Yoochun would still be causing trouble for his teachers and would have the occasional fight with someone… he was hardheaded after all.

Changmin just shrugged, a smile crossing his face. He blushed at the thought of ‘being tangled up together’, but he was still glad that their differences weren’t so bad after all. Yunho smirked and gave Jaejoong a wink. Now he could have a chance to tell Jaejoong what really happened between him and Heechul!

Jaejoong crumpled the ball up and stood from his spot. The blanket moved with him and then finally fell when he was standing straight. The blanket was pulled off of Yoochun as Jaejoong stepped out of the way and over to his bag that was still on the sofa from last night. He gathered up his things, brushed his hair, and then made for the door.

The other three watched him in shock. He was acting as if the other three weren’t even there! And here they thought that they could all become friends…

“Are you guys coming or not? I’ll drive.” Jaejoong turned, a small smile on his face.

Yunho and Changmin shot up and began packing their things back up.

“W-wait!” Yoochun called, still sitting down. “What about Junsu?”

“I bet he already went to school.” Changmin nodded. Yunho and Jaejoong agreed; Yoochun frowned.

“But… why didn’t the others mention him? Wouldn’t they have seen him?” Yoochun questioned. The others paused, hesitant to respond to that one.

“Do you really think they stayed all night?” Yunho questioned back. Yoochun opened his mouth to reply, but Yunho stopped him. “If I were them, I would’ve left for the night when I thought you were asleep and then come back right before you woke up, left a note and then left before you woke.”

Yoochun pondered on this logic a moment before deciding that they were probably right. He gathered his own things and told them to go on ahead to school… He preferred walking anyway. So they did.

As Yoochun neared the door, he turned and frowned at the living room. He wanted to know if Junsu was alright, but he’d already left…

Yoochun sighed and finally left the apartment, deciding that he would go to school and talk to the others some more.

At lunch later in the day, Yoochun plopped down in his usual spot outside. He was away from the other students and all by himself. Just as he was about to start eating, he felt someone sit next to him. He glanced over and smirked when he saw Changmin, who had his own tray and was reading through a text book.

Neither said anything and began eating.

Soon they were joined by Jaejoong and Yunho who had a tougher time getting away from their cliques. Yunho plopped down in front of Changmin leaving the only space available next to him. Jaejoong raised an eyebrow and gave Changmin a look.

“Switch with me?” Jaejoong questioned. Yunho looked offended and Yoochun laughed at him. Yunho shot him a glare, but Changmin continued sitting.

“We need to eat now… we don’t have time to be petty.” The genius replied, his nose still stuck in his book. Jaejoong pouted and finally sat down, but scooted far away from Yunho. The jock raised his hands and looked at Jaejoong with a look that said ‘WTF’.

None of them said anything and the silence was beginning to bug Yoochun, so he finally spoke up about something that had been bothering him.

“What about Junsu?”

“Huh?” Yunho questioned. Changmin and Jaejoong looked up interestedly. Yoochun continued.

“Well… since he said he doesn’t know if he has any family or know anything about himself… what if he goes back to the house? He’ll be alone…” Yoochun spoke softly, not sure if anyone would agree. Truthfully, he cared for Junsu and felt a connection due to the ‘family problem’, so Yoochun really wanted to take care of the younger male.

“Well…” Jaejoong hummed, thinking of what to do.

“Why don’t we each go back every evening to check on him?” Changmin suggested. “At least until we figure out more about him…”

Yunho snapped his fingers, “Yeah! We can each take turns!”

“Why though?” Jaejoong questioned. “Why couldn’t we all go?”

“Do you want our parents to forbid us from seeing each other?” Yoochun spoke up. The other three eyed him questioningly. “Face it guys, if your parents knew you were hanging out with me, they’d have me expelled just for that.”

They all looked down and sighed. It was true… Yoochun’s reputation had ruined any thoughts of being able to spend time with him without their parents going nuts about it. But in a way, it wasn’t just his fault either, each of them had a hand in being unable to spend time together.

“Okay, so… Yunho goes first.” Yoochun nodded. Yunho raised an eyebrow.

“Why me though?”

“Because… I almost got caught by a policeman on my way out of the house… and I know he’ll be on patrol tonight looking for me. You’ll be less conspicuous because he doesn’t know you…” Yoochun finished.

“Huh? He knows you?” Changmin piped up after a long silence. Yoochun nodded, but didn’t elaborate.

“Jaejoong, what are you doing?!” A screech came from the other side of the courtyard. Jaejoong froze and grimaced.

The one who had screamed, now revealed to be Heechul, stormed up to Jaejoong, his hands on his hips. “What are you doing sitting with these… these…”

“People? Students? Teenagers?” Changmin offered, pushing his glasses up. “There are plenty of titles to use…”

Changmin wore a snarky smirk while Heechul gaped at him, appalled that the genius even spoke to him.

“Troublemakers more like it…” Heechul replied, his eyes studying Yoochun who ignored him with ease.

“Yeah well, you squawk like a bird, but you still have friends… amazingly.” Yoochun smirked around the noodles he was currently slurping on.

“Why you…” Heechul was cut off from saying anything more when Jaejoong stood up, plate in hand, and marched him off the courtyard. He threw apologetic looks back to the other three and decided that he’d best sit with Heechul today.

“Hmph… looks like old habits die hard, eh?” Yoochun grumbled, disappointed that Jaejoong didn’t stand up to his best friend.

“I guess…” Yunho sighed, watching after Jaejoong.

After school Yunho decided he would drop by the house after all and see if Junsu was there. If he was, then he would stay for a few hours, but if not then he would head home. Yunho kept his back pack over one shoulder as he walked along the side of the road to get to the house that he and the other three had spent the night in.

When he finally neared it, he began looking around cautiously so he didn’t get caught. But he was able to make it into the house without a problem since no one was around unlike earlier, which made Yunho wonder exactly how the cop from earlier knew Yoochun.

He pondered on that for a bit while he sat on the sofa in the living room. He was about to lay back when he heard the shuffling of feet behind him. Yunho turned quickly to see Junsu standing there, a sad look on his face.

“Aish, what’s wrong?” Yunho questioned, jumping up and walking to him. Junsu sighed and shrugged, not speaking. “Junsu…”

“I don’t know… I just feel like something’s wrong, but I don’t know what…” Junsu spoke after a few moments of deep breathing. He seemed like he wanted to cry, but was trying not to. Yunho sighed and laid a hand on Junsu’s shoulder comfortingly.

“It’s okay.” Yunho smiled at him, leading him to the sofa to sit down. Junsu sighed heavily while Yunho watched him.

“Why did you leave this morning?” Yunho questioned suddenly, thinking back to this morning when they were shocked at Junsu’s ‘disappearance’.

“What do you mean?” Junsu questioned, confusion filling his teardrop shaped eyes. “When I woke up, you were all gone… I thought you just left me here…”

Yunho could hear the hurt in his voice and he quickly spoke up, “We didn’t, honest! You must have been in another room or something; maybe sleepwalking?”

Junsu stared at him, but his answer made sense, so he nodded and Yunho explained to him that they had each decided to come by in the evening after school on different days during the week until they could figure out who he was and where he came from. Junsu was delighted to hear that they would all be by again and he forgot all about not seeing them earlier this morning.

The next few hours passed quickly while Yunho and Junsu played word games and talked about random things such as video games and sports. Junsu was happy to know that Yunho liked soccer as well and Yunho was surprised that Junsu knew so much about video games. But soon it grew late and Yunho had to leave Junsu for the day.

“Who is coming tomorrow?” Junsu questioned, remembering that someone else was supposed to be coming by the next day and he silently hoped it was Yoochun.

“Changmin.” Yunho replied, throwing his bag over his shoulder. Junsu nodded, a little sad that Yoochun wasn't coming, but also glad that he wouldn't be all alone. “Hey, take this... I'm sorry its not more, but it'll help with something to eat, right? Will you be okay here?”

Junsu looked down at Yunho out-stretched hand that held money. He accepted it uncertainly and then smiled at Yunho, “I'll be okay. I'll go get something to eat later.” He didn't mention that he hadn't eaten all day and really didn't feel the need to eat at all.

Yunho left after a few moment's hesitance.

When he arrived home 20 minutes later, he was questioned as to where he had been. He quickly lied and said that he'd been held back at practice and raced off to his room so he wouldn't blurt out the truth to his parents. Yunho wondered about Junsu the whole night - he was acting funny and it worried Yunho, but what could he do?

Nothing, but he would definitely watch out for more odd behavior from him.

I'm so sorry I haven't updated in so long. I'm really upset with myself for it taking so long. :(
Um, it might be a while longer until I can post another chapter too because we're moving. Our house is in foreclosure and we have until Dec. 1 to get our stuff out, so we're working really hard on it.
The reason it took so long for this chapter is a) I'm working on NaNo, so I couldn't count my chapters for the word count, so I focused on my other stories that I came up with specifically for NaNo, b) It took even longer when I started because I wanted this to be a longer chapter to make up for it being so long.
But anyway, please hang in here with me guys, I will be updating, but it'll be a while before the next chapter.
Love you all!
