Summary: Bitches come and go but there are things that always remain the same.
They always came and and were gone after, what it seemed, a mere moment. That was how Sungmin’s life went. First one was in middle school, a hot-headed shortie he found awfully cute. Given that he was pretty hot-headed, too, it was more than a surprise to have them last longer than two weeks and that was exactly what his obnoxious, blunt but somehow still sharp best friend Kyuhyun told him. Sungmin hadn’t dignified that comment with a reply and had only noticed the very cute waitress who was taking their orders at the café they were sitting at.
Kyuhyun chuckled at him one month later as Sungmin only glared daggers into his friend’s acne-covered face. „Told ya, that chick was in for your cuteness. Except that there’s nothing cute to you than your face.“ Sungmin threw a snot-and-ketchup-stained napkin at him and decided that girls were too complicated for him to understand.
Which is why, two days later, he caught himself asking for the number of that girl in his Calc I class. The one who was always chewing cinnamon flavoured gum. In that moment he really did believe they would work out in one or another way. Her smell did remind him of Christmas after all. And Sungmin liked Christmas.
Two best friends were sitting on Kyuhyun’s couch and discussing first times and the worries of condom sizes that came along. High school had come faster than they had time to realise and Sungmin still felt himself strongly drawn to his chewing gum chewing girlfriend which was, in his eyes, a good omen.
Two months later Kyuhyun was a cool enough friend to steal some of his parents’ liquor to comfort Sungmin over the fact that his now-ex didn’t just enjoy to chew /gum/. You get the idea.
Sungmin was broken beyond anything what alcohol could fix at that moment and Kyuhyun had spent an added up couple months of his precious time to have Sungmin get over his precious-jewels-chewing ex. Sungmin decided he had enough of stupid weird girls and their stupid weird fetishes. He instead decided to accompany Kyuhyun as a wingman in the younger teen’s self-declared goal to get laid as many times possible during his high school time. Finally having found an enjoyable dedication in their lives, namely Kyuhyun banging chicks and Sungmin helping him with that, they later concluded that high school time had been marvellous.
Sungmin found out that he may had enough of girls but maybe women weren’t such a bad thing either once they entered college.
When he graduated, he found himself looking back on countless relationships and just as many instances of Kyuhyun laughing at him and dragging him into random bars to get over it by setting him up with meaningless one-night-stands. Sungmin had to admit that he would have been miserable without Kyuhyun.
Barely entering the world of adults that held no more worries of death lines, exams and dirty underwear but more worries of the likes of bills, lunatic bosses and the omnipresent pressure of reproducing as soon and as much as possible, Sungmin hooked up with a co-worker and presented an engagement ring to Kyuhyun only 3 months later. Kyuhyun raised an eyebrow. Kyuhyun stared at the ring. Kyuhyun promised to be the best man. Kyuhyun patted Sungmin’s head, paid for the drinks and booked a trip for two to Europe after Sungmin was left at the altar.
I’m telling this story, that only seems to consist of countless affairs and relationships those two boys had, not because I’m a sadist who frolics at the sight of people not capable of forming long-lasting and healthy relationships. There also is a reason for not mentioning any name of any of those girls.
Sungmin was long past his twenties and still childishly tossed snot-and-ketchup stained napkins at Kyuhyun when said man laughed at him. Kyuhyun still dodged them effortlessly and paid the drinks. Sungmin gave a damn about all those girls and women by now and thought that maybe it was just not meant to be. But he was pretty damn sure that he was meant to be throwing napkins at Kyuhyun and not paying for alcohol for the rest of his life.
And when Kyuhyun threw himself away for a marriage with a woman that he couldn’t stand after impregnating her with about 17 Martini shots intus, Sungmin thought that maybe Kyuhyun wanted to start throwing napkins at him as well.
Kyuhyun hated his new life. He adored his daughter but felt like committing a major crime once he had to talk to her mother for more than two minutes. He detested the fact that he had to live with her. He detested a lot of things in his life, actually. But every once in a while, when he managed to (illegally) sneak his daughter into that oh-so-familiar bar where her super cool uncle Sungmin was waiting for them and when he could just sit down and act all like he was back in college time again, or more so, in middle school when it still seemed partly appropriate to throw napkins at each other, Kyuhyun felt himself laughing like he usually wouldn’t.
And as long as both of them had the evenings in the bar where they laughed and acted like teens who had just hit puberty and where they could just give a damn about shrieking, weird and PMS-ing wives/girlfriends and womankind in general, everything was damn fine. ’Cuz you don’t need more in life than those moments.
A/N: I just felt like scribbling this down. tbqh I have no idea if that means I'm back in the fandom cuz NaruSasu is still driving me nuts.
