Summary: This is the love and also the life story (until their twenties) of Sungmin, Kyuhyun, Eunhyuk, Donghae and Ryeowook. This story tells about how they grow up and closer and how they will find their first and maybe everlasting love.

„Come in.“ They heard Kibum’s soothing voice through the door and Kyuhyun carefully opened the door. “Are you clean again?” Kibum laughed when he saw Kyuhyun entering the room.

“Yeah - so funny. Where’s Donghae?”

Kibum ignored his question, eying Sungmin instead. “Isn’t he sick?”

“I’m better again! Just wanted to come over to meet you and Donghae.” Sungmin smiled and waved cutely. Kibum just nodded and turned his attention back to the book he had been reading.

Kyuhyun unnecessarily began to examine the room even though it was just the same as their room was. He sat down on Donghae’s bed and began to play with the little stuffed animal that was a fish.

“Kyuhyunnie, where is Donghae?” Sungmin now began to wonder when he saw that his Dongsaeng didn’t even bother to look after his brother, the reason that they came to the room at first place.

“In the shower.” Kyuhyun replied and sat up again, tapping the spot on the bed next to him. “Come here, Hyung. Don’t stand there in the door; you are still not healthy yet after all.”

“Donghae doesn’t like it when other people sit on his bed. Unless your name is Lee Hyukjae.” Sungmin sighed but sat down nevertheless. “How did you know he was showering anyway? I don’t hear anything from the bathroom.”

“The walls here are quite soundproof, if you haven’t noticed yet. It’s like the owners of the hotel are asking for it.” Kibum said, making Kyuhyun smirk in amusement.

Sungmin just blinked. “Asking for what? And Kyuhyun still hasn’t answered my first question.”

“Asking for it, Hyung. And I know it because Donghae fell into just the same spot in the water as I did.” In fact, Kyuhyun and Donghae had been fighting, both falling in the sea in the progress. Kyuhyun had apologized to his brother afterwards, when it became obvious that Kyuhyun didn't quite own the ability to swim.
Sungmin blinked another time and just stared from Kibum, who had turned his attention back to his book again, to Kyuhyun, who really wondered how an almost grown-up boy with a girlfriend could be that innocent. And then Sungmin smacked Kyuhyun’s arm and began to flail.

“Ew, you perverts!” he whined, grabbing Donghae’s pillow and burying his face in it.

“Come on, Hyung. It’s nothing unusual.”

“Just in case you haven’t noticed, Kyuhyun. We sleep in those beds.” Sungmin said flatly before dropping Donghae’s pillow with a disgusted face. “I don’t even want to think about what this pillow has gone through.”

Kyuhyun realized that he hadn’t thought of it that way. He shivered slightly before shaking his head violently. “Okay, Hyung, now it was your turn to make me feel super disgusted.”

Right in that moment, the door to the bathroom opened and Donghae came out, immediately bouncing happily as he saw Sungmin sitting on the bed. “Haiiiii Sungmin Hyung!” he squeaked, jumping on his bed and almost on Sungmin if Kyuhyun hadn’t pulled his sick friend a bit closer in that moment.

“He’s sick.” Kyuhyun said shallowly before embracing said boy in a protective, gratuitous hug from behind. Donghae poked his tongue out at his brother.

“Do you feel better, Hyung? I actually wanted to visit you but Mr. Park said the flu was contagious and it would have been too dangerous. Guess he doesn’t care about Kyuhyun that much!”

Sungmin laughed and pinched Donghae’s cheek. “Don’t be mean. Kyuhyunnie took good care of me!”

Donghae raised an eye brow at his brother who just shrugged and grinned. “I see… you missed a lot today!”

“Like you and Kyuhyun both falling into the sea and smelling like a pile of anchovies that had been laying around in the Dowisetrepla (1) for at least two years? Yeah, I would have loved to see that.”

“Ya-aah, that wasn't that much fun as it sounds.” Donghae pouted, earning a low chuckle from the bed next to him.

“It actually was.” Kibum remarked before letting out another little laugh at the memory.”You should have seen yourselves.”

He raised an eye brow at Kyuhyun's arm around Sungmin's waist before deciding that interfering in other people's life was too troublesome anyway, turning his glance back to his book again. Yup, Before I Go To Sleep had been more interesting by now, why would that change all that sudden?

“Donghae, we need to talk.” Sungmin then suddenly started. Kibum could feel his ears straining all by themselves. He mentally slapped himself for being such a sensational, curious bitch but he couldn't help it after all.

“A-about what, Sungmin Hyung?” Donghae muttered nervously, hands stroking the perfectly straight bed sheets while his eyes were avoiding Sungmin's. He didn't like the undertone in the other boy's voice.

“I actually think you know what I want to talk to you to.”

“I do?”

“Mmmhh... Let's go outside?”

Kyuhyun's eyes widened. Oh, he hated his curiosity but he swore that he would never risk it again. Being caught by Sungmin and struggling with the uncertainty about if he hated him. If there was something he hated more than not knowing about something, then it was Sungmin being angry with him. Little did Sungmin know about the inner war his Dongsaeng was fighting when he was standing up, pulling Donghae towards the door without looking back.

Another person noticed it though.

“Curious much?” Kibum chuckled. His eyes still were pinned on his book but Kyuhyun had already realized a few years ago that Kibum only seemed to be distracted when he actually saw more than everyone else combined did.

“I am, so what?”

“This is so not like you. Your attitude always changes 180° when you're around him.”

“Bullshit.” Kyuhyun murmured in a redundant attempt of denial.

“Whatever. You didn't seem that happy when you came in.”

“He was talking about the bitch.”

“And you don't like it?”

Kyuhyun rewarded him with a piercing glare.“You didn't really ask that question, did you?”

“Well, at least that egoistic side of you is still the same.” Kibum shrugged and flipped the page.

“I'm not being egoistic. I'm trying to get the best for him. She's just being a bother to him.” Kyuhyun defended himself, slowly walking up to Kibum's bed.

“But isn't that his problem?”

“I don't think so. I want to see him happy too.”

Kibum sighed. “I don't think you get it. Isn't he happy?”

Kyuhyun shot him an incredulous glare. “She's annoying him. How can he be happy?”

“I believe to remember that his eyes always turn all sparkly and happy when he speaks of her. And you know that I'm not the exaggerating and romantic type.” Kibum remarked. “However, maybe I'm wrong.” Kyuhyun didn't know if the older boy was just saying those words to show that this was the end of their conversation.

Meanwhile, Donghae thought of reasons for Sungmin staring at him like he did. It was definitely not comfortable and if he was right, it was more a glare than a stare.

“So...?” he spoke up cautiously and it seemed like Sungmin had finally found a way to form his thoughts.

“What was the fight with Hyukjae about?”

Donghae blinked a few times. “How did you know about a fight?”

“Answer my question first. It's rude to reply to a question with another question.”

Donghae noticed how serious his usually soft and always smiling had turned. It must be because of Hyukkie. “But Hyung...” he started and his voice almost immediately faltered. Wrong way to begin, Donghae. “Jisoon. “ he murmured.

Sungmin's eyes widened, same did his mouth, as he was staring at his Dongsaeng for a few seconds while his brain was processing that newly received information. “You were jealous?” he figured out then, face lightening up for no reason that seemed to be apparent to Donghae at that moment.

“Je-jealous? How did you get that idea?” Donghae couldn't have found a better facial expression to blow away any remaining doubt Sungmin may have had.

“I didn't know you felt that way...” he mused. Hyukjae was lucky, he thought but immediately corrected himself that it was unavoidable for those two not to have any deeper feelings for each other as they were way too compatible for it still being normal.

“Ya! I didn't say anything about-”

“You're being too obvious already. Hyukkie's been so down the whole week already, don't you feel bad?”

“He's been down?” Sungmin suppressed the urge of slapping some sense into this dense exemplar of a homo sapiens sapiens.

“Do you think he'd be happy about fighting with you?”

“I thought he was mad with me....”

“Could you please just tell me what happened between the two of you? What did you do for Hyuk to be mad at you? Unless you don't want to tell me. But I think I can even help you two with that.”

“I-I...” Donghae raised his voice only to drop it a moment later. How was he supposed to explain to his best friend's twin that he had been meddling with with his best friend's affairs? Sungmin might as well start lecturing him.

“I conclude from your reaction that it probably was something you did wrong.” Sungmin tapped his chin. “If you're not willing to tell me anything, that's okay too, but do something to fix your relationship with Hyukkie, not only for your own good but for his, too.”

Donghae was aware that the situation couldn't remain that way. But he didn't know how to fix it. He considered it as damn awkward to just call his best friend and apologize; it would come off as canting, that's what he thought. And thinking of it, Sungmin wasn't just Hyukkie's twin but also his, Donghae's, friend, right? And friends help friends, right? Right?

“Right?” Donghae suddenly grinned and Sungmin flinched. This grin was, in combination with the sudden question, was totally (okay, kinda) off-topic.

“...Right.”

“No, I mean, we're friends, right?”

“Of course we are, Hae.” Sungmin smiled while patting his friend's shoulder.

“So I ask you to help me. I fucked up because I read a letter that was meant for Hyukjae.”

“Does it have anything to do with Jisoon?” Donghae was slightly surprised to hear that question. So Sungmin still did notice what was happening in his surrounding, even though he was non-stop occupied with Haerim.

“You know about it?”

“Well, you mentioned her two minutes before and Haerim said that she noticed how Hyukkie and her seemed to get along really well. Soooo I just deduced that you may have been a teensy tiny bit jelly after reading that letter?” Sungmin blinked innocently. Donghae opened his mouth, only to close it again which happened two more times.

“I... don't know how to feel about it. I just know that I don't like that feeling.”

“You... I'm gonna say something totally lame and clichèd now, but you two need to talk.”

“I don't know. I'm not good with words.”

“I just don't want you two to be upset like that but in the end, it's your decision what to do.” Sungmin seemed a bit disappointed about the way this conversation was going but he was hiding it really well. If only Donghae hadn't known him for 12 years now.

“Hyung... I... I'm sure that... You don't have to worry. I... I can fix this.” Donghae earned a doubtful look that went by completely silent. He had to urge to destroy the silence because he found it disturbing. “But I'm sorry for not trusting him.”

“Don't tell me.” Sungmin smiled weakly without looking at Donghae before entering the room behind him again. Kyuhyun immediately leaped off the bed as he saw the door opening and Kibum let out a little chuckle as he watched the guard dog jumping for its master.

“Hyung! Do you feel okay?”

Sungmin's mouth fell open and he stared at Kyuhyun for two seconds before blinking twice. “I've been gone for two minutes.” he stated “Nothing happened.”

Kyuhyun smiled sheepishly as he noticed how he was acting. “Right. Two minutes.” He could practically feel Kibum shaking his head in his back and he knew that he deserved it.

“We should be headed back to our room. It's time for the next meeting soon.” Sungmin mused and dragged Kyuhyun out of the room, not before shooting Donghae a meaningful look and shouting out a quick “Bye Kibum!”.

While his Hyung was holding his hand (actually grabbing his wrist), Kyuhyun thought about the little redundant burst-out he had just a minute ago. Was he always like that when Sungmin was around? Thinking about it, he really acted strangely when his Hyung was within reach. He just didn't realize it, not before having this reaction to Sungmin entering the room earlier, but when he heard that almost inaudible chuckle from Kibum...

They've reached the door of their room and while Sungmin let go of Kyuhyun's arm in order to open the door, Kyuhyun was trying to analyze his own behavior. Now that Sungmin wasn't touching him anymore, his condition was more or less normal, but he remembered how his heart was pounding in his chest and especially how disturbingly blurry and fogged his mind has been when Sungmin was touching his wrist. Was that normal?

“Is that normal?” Kyuhyun slammed his fist on the nightstand, the pencil that was lying on it rolling off and hitting the ground. But he didn't exactly care, and neither did Kibum, who just remained unaffected, flipping the page of his book.

“You know, I can't exactly read minds so unless you just want to scream incoherent things around, you better be a bit more specific.”

Kyuhyun and Kibum were up in the latter's and Donghae's room. The teacher had allowed them to have some free time until dinner time and Sungmin and Donghae had immediately decided to go for a little sightseeing tour together. Kyuhyun had vehemently protested, saying that Sungmin was still weak and sick and that there was no fucking way for him to leave the hotel but Donghae and Sungmin insisted that it was just a short walk, nothing too exhausting and that some fresh air would make Sungmin feel better all over again. Kyuhyun soon realized that he had nothing to say in this manner, only being Sungmin's friend and roommate after all, so he had to let go, if he wanted or not.  And no matter how much Kyuhyun wanted to join his older brother and especially Sungmin, he had decided that this was the perfect moment to talk to an certain, very smart person.
Kyuhyun didn't say anything for a few seconds before sitting down on Donghae's bed.

“You know, it's impolite to read a book while people are about to ask for wise advice.”

“I never asked for giving you advice.” Kibum retorted but closed his book anyway before turning and sitting up.

“Thank you very much.” Kyuhyun remarked almost sarcastically but he knew that he could pull this off. He and Kibum were close.

“Is it normal for me to act completely out of character when Sungmin is around? It's like I don't have any control over my body or even my mind anymore. Everything is spinning and even though my heart is pounding like crazy, it seems like my brain still isn't getting enough oxygen to actually function properly.”

Kibum couldn't help but have one of his mouth corners twitch. Kyuhyun being like this was a hilarious thing to watch even though the younger boy usually was everything but hilarious. Kibum murmured something along the lines of 'love-sick/crazed puppy' before chuckling for real.

“Do you think this is funny?” Kyuhyun disapprovingly raised an eyebrow. He wasn't used to being made fun of.

“A bit.”

“Is that normal?”

Kibum shrugged. “I guess that it's normal to a certain extent but knowing how different your usual self is, I think it's a bit extreme.”

“Would you say... would you say it is unhealthy?” Kibum paused for a second, looking at Kyuhyun.

“What do you expect me to say?” Now it was Kyuhyun's turn to pause and reconsider. But he felt weirded out not being his normal self, even if it was due to such a thing as being in love.

“The truth.”

“It is kind of disturbing seeing you being like another person once you are with him. But what do you want to do? Snap your fingers and fall out of love with him? Deal with it. Other people have bigger problems than that.”

Kyuhyun stood up and left the room and Kibum was sure that he heard him saying 'But I'm not other people'.

*~o~*

“You know, I couldn't do half as much as I wanted to.” Sungmin was chewing on his finger nails, a bad habit that he actually had managed to get rid off but was always coming back in certain situations when he was nervous or under stress.

“Stop chewing on your nails.” the sharp voice of his twin brother on the other end of the line interrupted that unconscious doing of him. Sungmin halted and grinned to himself as he realized how Hyukjae came to know him better than he himself sometimes did.

“And I guess this isn't anything you could solve anyway. If he doesn't talk about it, what can I do?”
Sungmin could almost see the sheepish, gummy grin in front of him that was just too afraid to show how worried he really way.

“Guess none of you is the type for big words anyway.” he sighed.
