Today was crazy at work.
I got there at 10, and got told the main server was down and we were operating on a backup server. EVERY piece of fabric had to be keyed in. Some credit cards wouldn't work, which would f-up that register, and we'd have to go to another register. The bad register would get rebooted. A few checks were accepted, then none. Most people were okay about it, but there were those few who decided we were f-ing up just to annoy them. We couldn't do tax exempts, returns w/o receipts, or special orders. No problem there - the two special order requests I had today were fine with coming back Monday.
I didn't get my first break, but lunch and afternoon breaks actually happened on time. I was quite happy when 6:00pm finally arrived. It didn't take me long to get out of there, either!
I heard that if the problem had been discovered before the registers had been opened, they probably would not have opened. But that kind of problem would NOT show up until the registers were used. (Catch 22)
I wanted to go to Old Chicago, but I couldn't even find a parking spot, So Al, Aaron and I went to 4G's and had margaritas and dinner. I'd still like a beer, tho....
