New York Comic Con 2011: Parts 2 & 3

FRIDAY

-On Friday, we got up pretty early and went to the con. The first panel on our list was Batman: Arkham City. After getting in the absurdly huge line, we finally made it in and then the magic happened. I finally met RandomGuy, aka Michael Agrusso creator of Hi, I'm a Marvel and I'm a DC in person. He's way taller than I thought, like 6'0'' and he's so pale and skinny and so charming. Ugh. I love him to pieces. The other RandomFans that were there were BSFan, Dtrain, Vinny, BigBatFan, Spideymouse, and Dekamaster. We all got seats together to watch the panel.
-The Arkham City panel was un-fucking-believable. They had a couple of writers and producers there and then the man himself, Kevin fucking Conroy, came out to thunderous applause. He honestly owned that room. They did a Q & A about the game, showed some game play, and then took questions from the crowd. Afterwards, we bum-rushed the stage and I did it.

I got Kevin Conroy's autograph.

There is no .gif to display my complete and utter joy about this fact.

He was so sweet to stick around for a few minutes and sign things. I gave him a sheet of paper and told him, "Thank you so much for your work. You're an inspiration to us." He smiled and gave me the paper back and it honestly made my entire life. I've wanted to say that to him since I was about seven years old. It's honestly a dream come true. No lie.

-After Arkham City, we watched the DC Animated panel, which included a Q & A about Batman: Year One, the Catwoman short, and Justice League: Doom. They premiered the Catwoman short, introduced by Elisa Dushku, and it was pretty damn good. The beginning is WAY too fanservice-y, but the rest was great. I loved it.
-After the DC panel, The Venture Bros panel started. Doc Hammer and Jackson Publick came out and fucking ruled the entire panel. See, they didn't have a planned out panel so they took fans' questions from Facebook and basically fucked around making jokes and telling stories for the entire hour. I laughed so hard it hurt. Doc Hammer read a list he made on his iPhone called Phrases I Wish Everyone Would Not Use Around me and it was hysterical.
-After that, we tried to go to the Mark Hamill panel but it was already full so we all went to Vinny's place for pizza because it was his birthday. Then Bryan and I had to go home and the guys went out to drink.

SATURDAY

-We got up and arrived early at the IGN theater. The Avengers panel started at 6:30pm and we got there at 1pm and the RandomFans saved us seats so we could camp out in the theater for the entire day. There were a couple things we saw that I didn't really care about, but then the big one came in. Nikita. For those who don't know, I started watching Nikita about two months ago--the CW show with Maggie Q and the delicious Shane West--and I'm in love with it. The show itself is alright, but Shane and Maggie have the most amazing chemistry and make the show awesome. Without them, it would be nothing. Anyway, I actually went up and crouched in front of the mic for the duration of the panel just so I could ask Shane and Maggie a question. Jesus Christ, I was only about ten feet away from them and my legs were shaking and my hands were sweaty. It was so goddamn amazing to see them both in person.

Then the moment came.

They switched to audience questions. Shane and Maggie looked at me and waved and smiled. Fuck, I almost passed out right then. And then the following happened:

Me: I'll make this quick--Maggie, you're beautiful and I love you; Shane, I...would LOVE to marry you.
Shane and Maggie: *laugh*
Audience: *cheers*
Me: ^////^

Yes, that really happened.

I proposed to Shane West.

LIKE A BOSS.

Anyway, they were very intelligent and sweet about answering my actual question and sadly, my question was the only valid one. Apparently, the Nikita fandom is just fucking bugnuts insane. They kept fangirling over Shane in creepy ways and wasted time. Such a shame. But who cares, I fucking proposed to the hottest guy short of Nathan Fillion. It was so great it felt surreal.

-After the Nikita panel was A Liar's Biography, Ghost Rider II, panel, Total Recall trailer, Underworld Awakening trailer, and an episode of Persons of Interest. Then...the Avengers panel arrived. We waited a long time for it, but it was so fucking worth it. Chris Evans. Tom Hiddleston. Agent Coulson. Maria Hill. President of Marvel Studios. Oh yes.

Naturally, all the fangirls went straight for Tom Hiddleston. He got about 80% of the questions. To his credit, he's a lovely guy and handled all the attention wonderfully. Chris Evans was very shy and adorable. Agent Coulson was fucking hilarious. He sang a made up version of the Avengers theme for us and we all died from the awesome. Mark Ruffalo was surprisingly entertaining.

They showed us some never before seen footage of the Avengers and then showed a longer trailer and we all nearly died from the fucking awesomeness that is Avengers. God. I wish everyone in the world could have seen it. That movie is going to kick so much ass.

-After that, we all went to a Chinese restaurant (which was AWFUL, btw. Bad choice, ugh.) and then went to the Tempest bar for karaoke. I had two drinks at the guys' urging, but didn't get drunk. Sadly, RandomGuy didn't get to sing on stage but he's such a sweetheart that he sang part of "Total Eclipse of the Heart" for me outside of the bar. Seriously, I love him. He's so sweet. Sweetest man on earth. I never wanted to leave them. We said our goodbyes and hopped on the subway and came back to the hotel, which is where I am now.

-All of the RandomFans were a blast to hang out with and really nice and funny and sweet. Jade even bought me the first book of the Dresden files because I mentioned months ago that I hadn't read it. Spideymouse bought me an amaretto sour. Dtrain was Dtrain (xD). Dekamaster was welcome company, as was BigBatFan and Vinny. We all got along perfectly well. I couldn't ask for more.

This is easily the best and most meaningful trip of my life.

I'll post photos on Facebook and LJ tomorrow. Kyo out.
