Nihilism chapter 2

The false brightness of  florescent lights pierced Kyo's sight as he walked into the bathroom singing "haku ni tsumerareta kuritsushita.." ; something he'd written, though it made a good song come to think of it.

A calmness had settled in him lately. His usually anxiety ridden mind has been put at ease the last few days, it kind of worried him. How ironic. He sensed something wrong, though he couldn't pin point what it was. Kyo was absolutely certain it would present itself in all its prideful misery in a few days time. For now, he would enjoy life as best to his abilities.

He turned on the faucet; in a soft rush the water soaked his hands. He looked up into the mirror; it gave him an eerie feeling, like he was seeing a flash of a dream whose memory was long gone.

"Tooru!" his eyes widened in fear.

"Tooru, get your ass out here!" his boss said seething through the door. He sighed. If he and Shinya didn't need the money, he'd tell his boss where exactly he could put his oversized ego.

"What the fuck are you doing?! If you want to keep your goddamned job, you had better get your punk ass out here. Now!"

He closed automatically behind him. He stepped unto the worn blue carpet and made his way down the hall.

"Anzai in some mood today," The red headed intern said, walking in sync with Kyo .
"Yeah well, good luck."

Die walked into the break room.

Kyo put his hand on the cool knob and read the plaque on Anza's office

Chief Eternize; Human Rights Division

Kyo was disgusted every time he even thought about it. He didn't know shit about treating people humanely, let alone fight for it. Just in it for the money. Just like everyone else in this God forsaken country. Human Rights is just a front to keep people happy. It doesn't really exist.

"Where the hell have you been, Nishimura? Never mind. You're about gone, you hear me? Your kind is a dime a dozen. Now sort these, top priority cases in the top drawer. Dispose of the rest."

'Nishimura' did his best not to roll his eyes, as "top priority" where people who where willing pour their entire life savings into Anzai-san.

He took the stack of papers into the break room with him, thinking that maybe there at least, he wouldn't have to be reminded that that he was not doing humanity a favor.

----

"Kyo-chan!!"

Kyo jumped. Toshiya.

"Why so angsty?"

"Shut up." he mumbled.

Shinya was in the kitchen standing over boiling water, glaring at it suspiciously as if he wasn't sure it could be trusted to cook his food. Toshi and Shinya both had aprons on, looking like house wives.

That was it. The happy period was over. It wasn't really that Toshiya was there, only that he hadn't had a good day at all and it showed no signs of letting up. Kyo reluctantly made his way from the bedroom to the small dining room where Shinya was setting down a glass bowl of  Harusame salad. Kyo cringed as Shinya turned around and hit Toshiya, hot mush of food crashing between them. Shin froze with hands shaking, Toshiya's jaw dropped, and Kyo sweat dropped.

----

Shinya and Kyo both crawled under the cold sheets in silence. Kyo had hardly said a word all day, causing Shinya to worry endlessly. He lay on his side, facing the wall.

"Kyo?"

"Yeah?"

"Is there something wrong?"

Yes. I just don't know what it is. Oh what do I say to Shinya?

"..."

"Kyo?"

Shinya wiggled close to Kyo and rested his head on his shoulder.

"Kyo-chan, please tell me what's bothering you."

He turned and pressed his body to Shinya's and held him from his lower back.

"I don't think anything is wrong, Shin."

Shinya sighed in defeat and made himself comfortable in Kyo's embrace.

"Liar." He whispered, too quiet to reach the others crowded head.

It was dead silent. It felt impossible to breathe, the air was so thick. Once a-fucking-gain I'm standing in the middle of a peninsula of brick walls with fear coursing through my body. What was more, I didn't know where this fear was coming from. Like I was watching a movie through my own eyes. I see that mirror. I was almost unwilling to walk over to it, but my curiosity led my feet. And once again I reach out, only this time I get a brief look at the reflection before it shatters. His face was mine, that much was obvious. But as I got a closer look I wasn't so sure. Those eyes where full of hatred. Toward me. Pure hatred shined brightly, those eyes almost glowed with disgust. My mirrored hand dug its nails into my hand. Breaking glass covered my scream, and that was it.
