Part 1 -- The Meeting Part 2 -- The Morning After Part 3 -- Negotiations Part 4 -- Construction Zone Part 5 -- Q & A Part 6 -- Reactions Part 7 -- Settling In Part 8 -- Flirting Justin unloaded the last crate of glassware from the truck, gently nudging it onto the Talon's loading dock.
"Interesting way to unload a truck. Enjoying your new job, Mr. Gaines?" A feminine voice asked over the sound of classic rock.
Justin pushed back the baseball cap that was shading his eyes from the afternoon sun. After turning down the radio, he rose from his comfortable deck chair and looked down into Chloe Sullivan's eyes. Justin dropped a sketch pad onto the chair.
"Not what I had in mind when I was drawing cartoons for the high school paper, but it's a living."
"You're a cartoonist?" Chloe's interest was piqued. She reached for the pad, but Justin intercepted her. "Political or funny pages? You'll have to show me your work."
"I'd like to think I'd be a bit of both like Garry Trudeau." Justin flipped the sketch pad to a finished drawing. "Though the antics of a costumed duck with delusions of grandeur might not play in a big city newspaper."
"Not that I have influence with any big city paper, but I love political cartoons. Did you see the editorial page in the Planet today?"
"Has anyone seen that shipment of glassware that was supposed to be delivered this afternoon?" Lex asked the bartenders who were unloading liquor and various mixers. There was something about a man who could split into two people that just made Lex a little nervous.
"The truck dropped the shipment off about an hour ago. Chloe went to the loading dock to ask Justin to bring the boxes in here. She hasn't come back yet," Ian-1 said.
"Justin hasn't brought anything in since that case of California Wines was delivered," Ian-2 added.
"Thanks, I'll check the loading dock."
Classic rock and roll was playing rather loudly on the loading dock. Chloe seemed to hanging in mid-air over the loading dock in a rather seductive pose reminiscent of that scene from Titanic. His dock foreman was stretched out in a comfortable lawn chair with a sketch pad and a charcoal pencil.
"I'm not interrupting anything, am I?"
Chloe thumped to the loading dock. "Lex!"
"Mr. Luthor!"
