So there I was at work the other day delivering library overdue notices to various classrooms. I go to enter this particular class but hesitate in the doorway as they have the lights off and are using their interactive whiteboard with the teacher on the other side of the board. The library is looking almost ready to move back into. Good in one way but bad in another. This means I will be spending next week lugging around boxes, putting shelving back together, cleaning and deciding where to put things. Getting dusty and sweaty and probably frustrated too. Will be fun though. Like moving into a new house.

Finished updating the First Aid course this evening. Pain in the neck thing - and who's idea was it to have it over two days after a normal work day... Would have been so much better to have had a pupil free day and we could have gotten it over and done with and none of this coming home in the dark and eating dinner at 8 o'clock at night. Went to work to see what sort of a mess the place was in after having received a phone call on Sunday to say the library had been broken into.  Four windows needed replacing, including one of the high ones and there was glass everywhere.  The windows were all at the back of the building but the glass shards and slivers had spread far and wide.  Two ( Read more... )

Day Two of the 2008 working year for me...  So far, so good.  Haven't blown anything up, tripped over anything, mis-filed anything, forgotten anything or yelled at anyone.  All positives.  I was wonderfully helpful to one of the new staff this afternoon - she seems nice and we know a few people in common.  Still got a few to meet and I haven't ( Read more... )

     I'm soon to be on holiday for the Christmas/end of school year break!  Yay!!  These last four days won't feel like the usual work day.  For starters - no kids and very few other staff.  I've got a stack of things to do in the library that will keep me busy and unfortunately the main one is relabelling most of the shelves in the non-fiction ( Read more... )
