typical indigenous food

On Saturday we stayed in a indigenous village about half an hour from Rosita. they celebrated Thanksgiving and we could spend the night there. it was really beautiful. i have been to indigenous villages here before and i like that they are all build along rivers. for them the rivers are natural roads. therefore there is no need to build roads.

i will definitely post more photos. but for a start, here is the food they offered us:

a thick beverage, still warm, called Wabul or Wawul. i am not sure how to spell it. anyway, it is a mix of cooked plantains. it is not sweet but to me it tasted like some thick potato-veggie soup. very mild.

then they served meat! and i thought it was CHOCOLATE! gosh, i really thought they made chocolate. haha. anyway, it was pork. and i cannot tell you if it was good, as i do not eat meat. but the bowl it came in, is the shell of the Jícaro-tree fruit. i love those. i use them as well.
