The interview for the government job went incredibly well... once I got there. I swear, trusting random pedestrians for directions is not a wise move. But, that's why I gave myself a full half hour of leeway to still be on time. I got to see the job before I even said hello to the manager, and it's easy. Really easy.
I got a few good signs from him as well, like asking if I wanted to go have a cigarette after we were done. I had to laugh on the inside when he told me he liked me for being able to "play both sides" ~ I showed up on as conservative as I get, including taking out my eyebrow piercing for the first time in over a year. Power suit, hair down, dress shoes and all... so when I asked about the dress code, he was surprised. I explained to him the hair and piercings and so on (all of which are kosher on this job). "You come in here looking like a corporate type, and then you tell me that outside of work you're all tattoos and biker chick. Not many people can play both sides. I like that."
He makes the decision today. It's the right hours, the right days, the right field with zero stress (if anything goes down, we're supposed to let the deputy sheriff handle it). I wouldn't have to give up anything out of my social calendar. I could still take classes this fall. They'll let me wear my hair up and keep my piercings. It's close to home... Hell, the uniforms are even black. He let it slip twice that he wants to hire me. I'm confident but not arrogant about it.
Which is why I went to the other interview as well, just in case. It read like a carbon copy of the previous interview for Aldi a month or so ago... at 6am. It pays better to start, is closer to home, but is out of my field and is not a set schedule. Again, they told me they'd like me to work more hours than I'm comfortable with. I told them we could discuss it. They thanked me for my time afterwards and told me they'd let me know. It's a hiring fair, so we'll see on that.

I've been featured in a
treasury on Etsy! Treasuries are collections of items chosen by an Etsy member. This collection is entitled "How Drunk Was I Last Night?" and features a collection of our Team BigDamnCrafters fine works ~ including my custom designed Firefly coasters! Go check it out!
The business has also been chosen to participate in Team Minnesota's "Creative Spaces" series ~ which is an pictorial essay about the space I work in. That'll be coming up soon also (I'm still working on it) and featured in the
TeamMN blog.
I've also finally got the startings of a business blog going on Wordpress (see
here) ~ I could use some critiques) - which means the bulk of KV Designs entries will go there, with minor announcements on this site and a link to the good stuff on WP. It needs a lot of work yet, but it's a start!
(I'm also going to play around with Blogger and see which service I like better before I start marketing it... any ideas?)

Today is moving my sisters into their new house in South Minneapolis. It's gonna be a lot of work, as Sarah's stairs in her current apartment totally suck, and most of Heather's stuff is still at our folks' place. Yeesh. But, I'm the big sister, and that's what sisters do. So, off I go!
