The Universe is weird.
The good news:
* For three days next week, I'm employed.
* As soon as I accepted the job, I got two more interview calls.
* I got my hands on a bike, a cruiser even, for free.
* I officially have a buyer for the poker table.
The bad news:
* The three day job pays just over $6/hr and has no hope of becoming more than that.
* Should I get the one job, my whole day-side schedule changes. The other interview? It's at 6am.
* I have to help my sisters move from the depths of hell to get the bike.
* The buyer can't make it out until Sunday for the table.
The freaking odd:
* One of the interviews is for a company I interviewed with at a different location about three weeks ago.
* The other interview... called me. For a job I never applied for. This is the third security gig I've been headhunted for.
* Both interviews take place before the employment I already accepted.
* The bike? Apparently she doesn't even want it... and I could have had it all along. My little sister is like that.
* The buyer for that table? Craiglist... to get answered by one of my friends.
All in all, it's still a few minor victories, with the potential for a couple major ones. Which is good.
Apparently the Universe has seen fit to reward me for the willingness of taking on a $6/hr job out of my field (it's at a fabric store... I craft, but I don't make clothes so I'm out of my league here). The security gig is so close to tasty perfect I can ... well, taste it. Two days a week, extended 1st shift, on days that don't screw up my social life at all, and are also days I can put my class schedule around. Conveniently nearby for a 20 minute bus ride and eventually within biking distance. With a solid firm, in a government building, unionized and pays quite well (but not well enough to threaten my disability). And they called me. That's the Monday morning interview, and based on the phone interview, I'm confident.
The Tuesday morning 6am interview is for a cashier job that actually pays better, and is closer to home, than the security gig. Odd. Of the two, I'll take the security gig as it's in my field and unionized. But, failing that, I'll have this interview to go to just before I help my sisters move on Tuesday. Failing that, I've got work Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday at the fabric store for their inventory.
And a paycheck to pick up. And the poker table selling this weekend. Things are looking up.

In other odd developing news, my "I'm just killing time" character for the Sabbat game is now important. Like, goes on missions, is in charge of spiritual stuff for a pack, converting a character to her path and has the attention of the local Templar "important." So, now Regina also needs time so that I can accurately play a Sabbat priest and not look like a total idiot. (Although it's always neat when the Templar gives you not only his defeated opponent to diablorize, but half his blood for your indoctrination of priesthood. And then the Bishop gives you more status. She has like... six now.)
Robert's Blood also needs time, like whoa. With her Fostern challenge given to her (it's actually a pretty difficult challenge), the Den Mother thing, the whole character development thing and event game prep... it's a lot to do. I'm probably going to take a day this week and/or next and just go writing for both characters, but her in particular. Weird. Then there's the DNA thing, the event game costume and prop...
I'm excited about what I'm going to do for her costume. See, several characters wear their renown as colored beads on string. She's urban, and more punkish. So, I'm going to put
synthetic jewel rivets in her leather jacket for her renown/rank. And some sort of fancy extra thing for positions held, maybe. Odds are, she'll end up with three of those (tribe alpha, den mother, pack beta). I've also got a few neat patches in mind for the jacket ~
Dropkick Murphys Boston (since she's Irish from that city),
Wonder Woman (because she totally would), and a
biker patch or
two. I also found a sort of "war" motif look for her I really like ~ a sort of bandanna and braid combo with some dark eyeliner. Makes her look like she really did fight in the streets. Which she did.
I'm just hoping that she does, regardless of the actual outcome of the physical challenge, make her rank. Not being fostern and holding the positions she holds makes me a bit nervous. I've got a bunch of xp to spend, and I'm going to do my best to make it count. Here's hoping.

I actually have a shift at the nightclub tomorrow nite, which is a bit too bad ~ Jesse is in town now, and this is the last week I'll get to see him for a year. Tomorrow nite is the go out and be rowdy with alcohol fun, but I'm gonna call when I get cut and see where they're at regardless. Odds are, they'll still be rolling after bar close. Besides, I can't turn down a shift at the nightclub ~ I need the cash. For now.
So instead, he and I and possibly others will be gallivanting during the day. This is good. Probably should spend a bit of time in the morning cleaning the house up, though. Just in case.
And now, sleep.

* Kathlyn ~ my therapist just rocks. Especially about scheduling.
* Reilly ~ free soda! (he wanted the bottle behind it with the tshirt)
* The Powers that Be ~ for giving me a couple of solid opportunities for real jobs
* All the folk praying for me ~ it's working!
* Jesse ~ for some awesome roleplaying tonight. Scary Templar.
* Tenacity. I am a lot of things, but tenacity is what's getting me through low tide.
