Chapter 6:
“How can this happen? I thought her being transported to the hospital is confidential? How did they know?” Chief Tanaka said in anger.
“I’m sorry, sir. I suspect that someone is leaking information to their side.” Fujiwara said.
“Find that person soon. How’s Tamamori sensei?”
“He’s recuperating now in his room. He has lost some blood but he should be alright and be back in shape after two weeks of rest.”
“Okay, what can he be possibly thinking, protecting her to that extent?”
“Well…I don’t know. Maybe it’s just his sense of responsibility and duty as a doctor.”
“What a foolish young man…”
Two days later, Chief Tanaka made an unexpected visit to Tamamori.
“Chief! I’m so sorry for the trouble caused.” He said as he tried to get up.
“It’s okay. You don’t have to get up. It’s not entirely your fault. We believe someone in our department is leaking out information that led to this incident.”
“I’m so sorry.”
“How’s your shoulder? Feeling better?”
“Yes. Thank you for asking.”
“Do you still think it’s necessary to bring Mitsuhara out again?”
“Well, if we don’t do that we wouldn’t know how serious her condition is. It’ll affect the questioning tremendously.”
“Okay, how about this. We will give a chance for Mitsuhara to decide. If she wants to go for a scan, then we’ll do that. If it’s the opposite, we’ll carry on with the questioning. Don’t say that I’ve never given the ‘patient’ a chance to choose.”
“But you know it very well that she’ll definitely deny it.”
“That’s too bad then. Tamamori sensei, have some rest first. We’ll come to that again two weeks later after you’ve recovered completely.”
“Oh, Tamamori sensei…” Mitsuhara said as she saw him coming in.
“Yo!” Tamamori said while lifting his uninjured arm up.
“What are you doing here?”
“Can’t I visit my patient?”
“No, I mean you’re supposed to be resting now. It’s not good for you to walk around like that. Your wound might open up.”
“Look who’s telling me that. I’m a doctor. I know what I’m doing.”
“Hey! I know more about bullets than you do. I’m just telling you based on my experience.”
“I thought you are the great assassin that leaves a place with nothing but a gun and a person’s life?”
“Ouch, that hurts. I was shot quite a number of times when I first started doing this thing. I never had the time to let the wound heal completely as there are always assignments thrown to me.”
“I’m sorry about that…Can I ask you something?”
“Sure, but before that, please sit down. That couch serves no purpose if you don’t sit on it.”
Tamamori nodded and smiled. He tried not to make too much movement as he sat down.
“See, I told you not to move about, right? For first timers like you, it’ll be very painful. Judging by the look on your face, it is right?”
Tamamori disliked being defeated but he had no choice. So he admitted.
“Yes…”
Mistsuhara smirked, happy that she’s right.
“So, what is it that you want to ask?”
“Who’s Kazuya?”
“Who’s Kazuya?”
“Don’t try to fool me, Mitsuhara. I was only in pain but still in a conscious state. So tell me. Who is he?”
