Chicago so far

Getting here the way I did probably would have driven the average traveler (who flies once a year) nuts! Flight was delayed an hour, had too much luggage so moving it (at least it had rollers) all the way to the train was a pain (always had to use elevators, because they didn't have down escalators, only up) and trying not to block the seat next to me with the aforementioned luggage on the train/ignoring possible dirty looks from regular el riders.

I wanted to document the WHOLE trip with my new Flip Cam, but it was just too much at the time, and pointing a camera at yourself in front of a bunch of strangers just seems weird. I'll get over that, though.

Adam greeted at the train station with a special cup of hot tea, and we walked the 6 blocks to his building. He took care of the luggage. Thank the Universe for him.

I'd say it took about 5 minutes once we got to his apartment, and a few questions from Adam, for me to have a huge cry, but I was telling him about it all. He'd heard nothing really, since he's not on Facebook and I don't like to talk on the phone. He was pretty appalled by the girls' and my brothers' actions. He spoke about conversations he'd had with other Hill/Cherokee people about me and their worries. At first I was scared, because Adam is always painfully honest, but their concerns were ones that SANE people would have voiced. And, yes, they knew all the details. It was a good conversation.

Then we went out to a place around the corner and ate pizza puffs, and gyros, and falafel, and french fries! LOL Yesterday we went to the beach, a mile from his apartment, then hopped a bus to Michigan Avenue, did some sight-seeing, got a little tipsy at a gay bar (the only one in that area) and ate at Gino's East. Such good pizza.

This morning I'm eating my bagel with lox and chive cream cheese, while Adam takes a run. I believe today is a Blieberg family day. Can't wait to meet all the kids! I've only met Haley. And it will be good to see Mort and Irene again. Adam's parents are such nice people. Plus the sisters! Yay!

I'll go back to uploading more vids on FB while Adam runs. Happy Chanukah!
