Last week, Jenny, our daughter-in-law, invited me to a trip to Swanson’s Nursery with our granddaughter. Jenny and Vivian have been very busy planting herbs, veggies and flowers in their backyard.  Vivian was out of school for Spring Break and she is so enthusiastic about gardening! The Tynes family, like lots of others, are scattered across the country, but our son, John, and two of his first cousins live here.  And, you know what is really great? Climbing up on my soap box: Jenny and John posted a video recently of them playing with Vivian in the park. I watched in amazement at how much Vivian has advanced in the use of words, expressing her desires and needs and describing her emotions. Yep, emotions. Viv uses the word "Happy" and "Yuck" appropriately.

Called Allan at 4pm yesterday to come save me. Got home, crashed. We had a wonderful evening sitting in the front yard, chatting up the neighbors..Yep, I had one more beer.

In bed around 9:30 and back up at 3am...dang. Was working by 6 from home, responding to emails from yesterday ...and getting answers back! Dang!'

Cousin Sheree, down in Jackson, MS, reported in this afternoon. She just got power back on. Her house has a good bit of roof damaged and is now decorated with several of those blue tarps. Before the tarps got applied, there were leaks several places and her carpet has mildew and will have to come up as well. Because of the storm, her car was parked ( Read more... )
