My sister,
lynnikiss  has a wonderful post about Allan as a brother-in-law. You just gotta go read it!

We spent the morning digging through family history in order to help John and Jenny fill out Vivian's baby book. Incredible how much is on line these days , like the US Cenus from 1900, 1920! and the WW I draft cards for my Grandpa Blackwell and Allan's Grandpa Tynes.

If you have been living on a desert island the last few years, you may not know, you can find all this cool stuff at Ancestry.com.  Whoo hoo!

We have my Dad's WWII service records. He was waist gunner,  often in a lead crew of the 34th Bomb Group, 8th Air Force on D Day, which was his first official combat mission. We even have the silk scarf map of Europe the flyers all carried.  Dad flew in Lt. Hartley's crew #36. Here is a partial list of their missions. They flew three missions on D Day...gave me chills to find all this on the 'net this afternoon.

See the patch on his jacket? Took me awhile, but it is the patch for his squadron. Wonder what happened to that jacket? I never saw it.
