Game of Thrones Season 7 Episode 4
First comment on the podcast I always listen to after watching Game of Thrones... "Holy SHIT, what an episode!!!" But in swedish. ;-)
It pretty much sums up this episode, I think… Let’s see if I can get my mind in order….
[Oh, there’s spoilers under this cut… So much spoilers you’ll drown in them!]I don’t know where to even start. I’ll just split it up between where we are, right? Right.
The first hint I got that something was going down, I just didn't know what, was in King's Landing. Where Cersie kept assuring the guy from the Ironbank that yes… yes, yes, yes… the gold IS coming, my brother is overseeing it. She was so sure of herself, since things have gone well for her, that I just KNEW something was going to happen to that gold. I just didn’t know what.
Man, did I find out later…
Anyway, moving on to Winterfell… where Bran aka Three eyed raven is creepy as fuck. Emotions and feelings? He don’t have them. He’s not Bran anymore and is creeping everyone out. Even Bran’s sister. Meera is right. Bran is dead. He doesn’t exist anymore. I didn’t get it last episode, but did they slam it home this episode?!! I loved it! And I loved how he creeped Little Finger out! Was that the first time, eh? Hell, who knows. The man deserves to be creeped out a little. He creeps everyone else out!
Sansas and Arya’s reunion was awesome! Heartfelt and wonderful! They truly did miss each other, I think. Even if they’re not sure off where they have each other anymore or even know each other anymore. I guess they’ll have to get to know each other again. :-)
Another thing that was awesome in Winterfell was the duel between Brianne and Arya. DAMN, GIRL! That’s some girl-power right there! The powerful knight against the assassin ninja, eh? :-D It was SO AWESOME to watch! And both were impressed with each other and bonded a little there. Don’t think I didn’t see it!
Podrick was so cute to though when reassuring Brianne. For all her power and all that, I think she needs some reassuring sometimes. Go Podrick! You stick to being Brianne’s sidekick! She needs one!
To keep with the Stark-theme… Jon is being cool in Dragonstone. So cool I am missing with I’ve seen in so many reviews of this episode. The tension between Jon and Daenerys. Ser Davos shiding Jon saying he is ‘checking out her good heart indeed’ ‘hint,nudge’ went right over my head. I just don’t see it. Not at all. The show tries to convince us there’s some tension between Daenerys and Jon for sure, what with the cave (thanks for the LOVELY history-lesson!) and her turning to him for advice and all that was going on there, but… I don’t FEEL it!!! Hell, there’s more sexual tension between Jon and Theon when he returned to Dragonstone! For serious!!!
Also, can someone give Theon a break? Either that or he’ll end up being the baddest badass eunuch there’s ever been at the ending of this show. For serious! He’s really been through hell, and now he’s lost his sister to! If he makes it through, I mean… Yeah...
But let’s go to the main event! The HUGE battle! Apparently the guy directing this episode, it was his first episode! Holy hell! Did he ever show what he could do??!??!!!
That was a battle! There’s so much going on and so much awesome, I don’t even know where to start!!!
A medieval battle with a horde of insanely skilled horse riders… and Drogon throwing napalm everywhere! I’m happy I am not a soldier in the Lannister or Tarly army, that’s for sure!
Just me or did both Drogon and Daenerys look VERY happy to finally be able to stretch their wings in the midst of battle? Just me? No?
I admit I have a soft spot for Drogon… He’s been like a grumpy whiny teen, but now he’s started to grow up and mature. And I don’t just mean size-wise. (And btw...Holy SHIT, Drogon is HUGE!!!!)
The most brilliant part about this, and the reason I sat in front of the TV biting my cheeks and lips to stop myself from screaming out loud… is that there were characters that were SOOOOO close to dying on both sides of the battlefield that I did NOT want to die, and they were so close I was jumping up and down in my seat at times!!!
For the record, Jamie is an idiot charging Daenerys with just a lance… when she’s standing tending to her wounded dragon (damn you, Bronn! And it almost killed you to!). He was a hairs breadth from being incinerated!
Now to the questions if it was Bronn or Dickon that saved him from Drogon’s fire… or if he is drowning… or if he’ll be a prisoner to Daenerys? Or what??? Because he really can’t die, can he? There’s just so much unsolved stuff going on between him and Cersie!!!
GAH!!! CLIFFHANGER OF DOOM!!! Can’t wait for next week! SERIOUSLY!!!!
