Today I got new steps from my back deck. The old ones had been shaky since I moved in the house over 7 years ago, but have been getting progressively worse each year. When I went outside to take a picture yesterday and stepped on them, found out that they had finally detached from the deck. My neighbor, Michelle, had volunteered her husband a few weeks ago when I was over to their house watching the SU game. Nothing happened so last week I got a quote for the job--- $545-- crazy, huh? I paid for the materials today and they cost me around $80. It took Lance about 2 hours more or less, so I have no idea why they wanted that much. I was over at their house Monday night, and Michelle reminded Lance, so he came over looked at the steps and we made a date to go to Home Depot today. It's nice to have sturdy and stable steps. :)
So now I have completed the home improvement project I had in mind for this year. Not sure what other projects I may come up with as the year goes on, but I may just stick with this one and painting the built in bookshelves in my family room-- plus possibly the two doors in the room. I didn't paint them when I painted the room originally last fall. With the old colors they looked kinda white (more of a light grey green once you actually have white in the room), but now it's obvious that they aren't white. Figure it should be an easy job, but time consuming getting all the sides and backs painted--- plus of course I'll need to empty the shelves first, and who knows if I'll have Shadow help.
